Mercedes-AMG Motorsport’s anniversary season is heading into the second round. A different configuration of the Lausitzring track now awaits the team following their successful opener at Hockenheim
- Lausitzring debut: 3 September 2000 (Pole position: Bernd Schneider; both races cancelled due to heavy rain)
- First win at Lausitzring: 12 August 2001, by Peter Dumbreck
- Mercedes-AMG Motorsport are the most successful brand at the Lausitzring with 13 wins to date
- Four Mercedes-AMG Motorsport DTM drivers, Gary Paffett, Paul Di Resta, Pascal Wehrlein and Lucas Auer have already taken wins at the Lausitzring – three of them (Di Resta, Wehrlein, Auer) took their maiden wins in the DTM at the circuit
- The DTM will use the 4.534-km track configuration this year in a change to 2017

“After what was an excellent weekend at Hockenheim with two podiums and a win on Saturday, I’m obviously looking forward tremendously to the Lausitzring. I’ve won three times there in the past. This year’s longer track layout will be a bit different, so it’s going to be interesting to see how we get on. The car feels competitive, and hopefully, we can continue on form this weekend.”& amp; lt; /p>

“The Lausitzring is an awesome track that always attracts plenty of spectators who make for a fantastic atmosphere. We’ve got a different layout this year that should prove interesting. The three corners are really something and should offer fresh overtaking opportunities. I like the track. It’s real ‘bumpy’ and allows for proper motorsport. That suits me. I’ve got some good memories of the Lausitzring in general, because it’s where I took my maiden win in the DTM, so it’s always really nice to return there. The past is never a guarantee that things will go well again in the future, but still, it makes you feel good.”

“I’ve got some excellent memories of the Lausitzring. It’s where I secured my maiden win in the DTM in 2014. I’m particularly looking forward to the longer track layout that we’ll be using this year. The other track was really short with not very many turns. At any rate, bearing that in mind, we’ll certainly need a bit of time in practice to get accustomed to the track and then I hope the weekend will turn out as successful as last time out at Hockenheim.” < /p>

“The first race weekend of the season went very well for our team. However, I’m still not quite sure exactly what to expect at the Lausitzring. The car drove well and the pace was excellent at Hockenheim. I hope it will be the same at the Lausitzring. The track has not been one of my favourites so far. However, they’ve made a lot of changes to the circuit this year, so I hope I’ll have a good weekend there. My goal is to secure as many points as possible in order to stay in contact with the championship leaders.” < /p>

“I’m pleased that the next lot of races have come around so quickly. I was a bit disappointed after Hockenheim, so I want to get back out on track and try to put things right from my side. “This will be my third race weekend in a row at the Lausitzring after the Hockenheim season opener and the 24-hour race on the Nordschleife. That’s great and I’m really pleased to be in a position to contest so many races right now. At the moment, I feel at ease in practically every racing car and am able to do well. I really like the Lausitzring and am confident that our car will be really great. If we can get things right, then we can have another successful weekend there. I’m really looking forward to it.”

“We made a great start to the season but will now have to up our game at the Lausitzring, especially at a track that has been so well suited to us in general. Gary has already won three times there. Lucas too has been successful at the Lausitzring these last two years and Pascal and Paul have already won races at the circuit as well. Despite all these positive signs, we mustn’t get ahead of ourselves and be over optimistic. Firstly, we don’t yet know what effect the changes made to the car will have out on track, and another thing is that the track we’ll be racing on is going to be different to the one used in previous years.”
