Team Sard Morand targets season's best for 2015 Finale

MOTORSPORT : FIA WEC - 6 HOURS OF FUJI (JPN) - ROUND 6 10/09-11/2015A regular contender in the top 5 of the LMP2 class, TEAM SARD MORAND is ready to end its first season in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) on a high note in the 6 Hours of Bahrain, to be competed on Saturday November 21.

For the WEC finale, Benoit Morand and his « guys » will battle for the LMP2 podium as they did since the 6 Hours of the Spa-Francorchamps WEC last May, when the team took the runner-up spot for its WEC debut. Despite a DNF at Le Mans and a few changes in the driving line-up, TEAM SARD MORAND regularly secured top 5 finishes and battled for the class lead, notably at the 6 Hours of Shanghai. For the third time this season, the #43 Morgan EVO SARD will be driven at the 6 Hours of Bahrain by Pierre Ragues, Oliver Webb and Chris Cumming. The latter joined Ragues and Webb at the 6 Hours of Fuji, the sixth round of the 2015 season, and rapidly proved as quick and consistent as his two team mates. At Fuji and Shanghai, the Swiss team also took advantage of the rainy conditions to battle for the class win. So in the Middle East the team’s motivation is stronger than ever to score another podium finish.

Benoit Morand (Team Manager): « I think we did good through the whole season. Apart from our DNF at the 24 Hours of Le Mans due to an engine issue, we finished all the other races in the class top 5. We had a few driver changes indeed, but with Archie Hamilton and then Chris Cumming we welcomed two good drivers who helped us maintain our position in the top 5. Chris made great progress from one race to another. He is very calm and takes a great amount of time to analyse his performances. He got along very well with Pierre, Oliver and all the guys in the team. Our package with the 2015 evolution of the Morgan chassis was competitive and consistent and I would like to thank the whole crew and also Onroak Automotive for providing us with such a reliable car. We will go to the Middle East with the same state of mind as we did all year long : being competitive, taking the best out of the team and our package, and battling for the top positions. This will not be so easy, but every race is different and brings different emotions. With a good race strategy and a little bit of luck, we can make it again on the podium. »
