DTM roof organisation ITR welcomes another TV partner. From the race meeting at Nuremberg’s Norisring (22nd to 24th June), SAT.1 and the Austrian broadcasting service, ORF, who covered the DTM races live from the beginning of the 2018 season, will be joined by Swiss sports channel MySports. MySports can be received exclusively in the Swiss cable net and will cover the races live with the original English commentary. Meanwhile, Verena Wriedt will host the race series from the pit lane, Dave Richardson is the commentator. The sports channel MySports ‘MySports HD’ can be received in Switzerland and Liechtenstein without extra costs. In addition to DTM, MySports covers all the FIA Formula E races as well as the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) live. Furthermore, the sports channel brings – inter alia – Swiss top-class ice hockey and the Bundesliga via Sky. The programme is completed by exclusive and unique content from the Red Bull world.

The Swiss viewers will mainly cross their fingers for their compatriot Nico Müller. The driver who was born in Thun has been racing in DTM since 2014 secured a pole and celebrated a race win. But Müller isn’t the only Swiss who raced in DTM. One of his predecessors was Rahel Frey. The first woman who won a race in the German F3 Cup raced for Audi in the popular touring-car series in 2011 and 2012. And Geneva’s Alain Menu was one of the most successful touring-car drivers in the 1990s. He won the British Touring Car Championship, BTCC, twice (1997 and 2000) and raced for Opel in DTM from 2001 to 2003 and secured two podiums. But the best-known Swiss DTM driver was Marcel Fässler. The 42-year old won the Le Mans 24h Race in 2011, 2012 and 2014 and the Sebring 12h Race in 2013. From 2000 he represented the Mercedes camp on the DTM to afterwards join Opel for the 2004 and 2005 seasons. He contested 67 races, secured five poles and clinched three race wins. In 2003, he finished third in the championship.
