A historic success in the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben: Marvin Dienst (18, GER, HTP Junior Team) is the first race winner of the new ADAC Formula 4. The HTP Junior Team driver won the first of three races taking place at the season opener of the ADAC High Speed Academy. Ralf Aron (17, EST, Prema Powerteam) and Mattia Drudi (16, ITA, SMG Swiss Motorsport Group) completed the party on the podium. “It’s incredible. I haven’t yet taken in the full significance of this win,” said Dienst after his victory at Oschersleben.
Mick Schumacher (16, GER, Van Amersfoort Racing) placed ninth in his first formula racing fixture. The son of record Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher was the best-placed rookie in the 35 car strong field. Schumacher also posted the fastest lap of the eleven rookies. The newcomer to single seater racing at Van Amersfoort Racing now leads the ADAC Formula 4 Rookie Cup which will be awarded to the most successful newcomer to formula racing at the end of the season.Schumacher pleased with his charge
“Of course, I’m pleased that I caught up – it didn’t occur to me at first that I was best rookie! After yesterday’s qualifying and my grid position, I’m really satisfied,” said Mick Schumacher, who went on a charge from 19th on the grid and improved by a total of ten positions. Schumacher will start the third race on Sunday (15:20, live on SPORT1) from second place behind Thomas Preining (16, AUT, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport).
Race winner Dienst laid the foundations for his success shortly after the start. From fourth position on the grid, the 18-year-old took the lead from pole-setter Janneau Esmeijer (18, NED, HTP Junior Team) in the second turn. Dienst kept an eye on what was happening around him during three safety car periods in all to eventually cross the finish line just one second up on Prema Powerteam youngster Aron. The Estonian took advantage of the exciting start to move up from fifth to second place. Aron then began to hunt down Dienst but was not a threat to the eventual winner. Two Motopark youngsters in top five
Third-placed Drudi also put in an impressive performance. The Italian started the race from sixth position on the grid and quickly moved up two places. At the restart after the second safety car phase on the seventh lap, Drudi pulled off a spectacular overtaking manoeuvre to win through against Michael Waldherr (18, GER, Motopark) and take third place. Waldherr finally crossed the finish line in fifth place right behind team-mate Joel Eriksson (17, Sweden, Motopark) in what constitutes a home fixture for team Motopark.
Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing), who placed sixth, had an eventful race. The Australian, racing for Van Amersfoort Racing, dropped down the field initially from second place on the grid to the rear of the midfield. The 19-year-old went on a superb charge over the 18 laps, clawing his way back to the front. Mawson battled for position towards the end with fellow team-mate Harrison Newey (16, GBR, Van Amersfoort Racing), the son of famous Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey, and finally got the upper hand. ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Tim Zimmermann (18, GER, Neuhauser Racing), Schumacher and Preining completed the Top-Ten.Race 2
Marvin Dienst (18, GER, HTP Juniorteam) made the best possible start to the first season of the ADAC Formula 4. After winning the inaugural race on Saturday, the 18-year-old also won the second round in the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Starting from pole position, the HTP Juniorteam driver made a perfect start to the season and leads the overall standings after two of three races at Oschersleben. « Oschersleben has not necessarily been one of my best tracks in the past, so I’m even happier now to have made such a perfect start to the season. » said Dienst.
The HTP Juniorteam had two reasons to celebrate: Dienst’s team-mate Janneau Esmeijer (18, NED, HTP Juniorteam) drove to second place, giving the team a one-two victory; the outfit is also busy contesting the ADAC GT Masters. Ralf Aron (17, EST, Prema Powerteam) completed the party on the podium in third place. It was his second podium after taking P2 in the inaugural race of the ADAC Formula 4 on Saturday.Aron lays timely foundations for second podium
All 35 drivers made a clean start to the second race of the season. Dienst kept things under control on the re-start after the first of two safety car periods, asserting his position in the lead unchallenged. Prema Powerteam youngster Aron laid the foundation for his second podium finish on the same lap, winning through against Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing) to take third place.
Aron had to defend against Mawson, as the two HTP Juniorteam drivers drew away in the lead. The Australian was again in no position to mount a decisive overtaking manoeuvre after a second safety car period on the final stint and had to settle for fourth place. Things were much closer between race winner Dienst and Esmeijer. After 18 laps, Dienst was just 0.798 seconds up on his rival, who posted the fastest lap.Ferrari Driver Academy youngster best-placed rookie
Mattia Drudi (16, ITA, SMG Swiss Motorsport Group) took fifth place behind Mawson; the Italian driver achieved a podium on Saturday for SMG Swiss Motorsport Group in the first race. Tim Zimmermann (18, GER, Neuhauser Racing) made the best charge of the race. The ADAC Sports Foundation protégé turned on the power in the middle of the race, gaining ten places in all to finish sixth. Giorgio Maggi (17, CHE, SMG Swiss Motorsport Group) was seventh, while Zhou Guan Yu (15, ITA, Prema Powerteam) placed eighth behind Maggi to achieve his first points-scoring finish in the ADAC Formula 4. P8 also earned the 15-year-old member of the Ferrari Driver Academy the accolade of best placed rookie.
Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark) and Robert Shwartzman (15, RUS, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) completed the Top Ten. Young talents with famous names jockeyed for position directly behind the young Russian, driving for kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport. Jonathan Cecotto (15, VEN, Motopark), the son of ex-Formula 1 and DTM driver and motorcycle world champion Johnny Cecotto, took eleventh place from Mick Schumacher (16, GER, Van Amersfoort Racing). The son of record Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher leads the ADAC Formula 4 Rookie Cup from Cecotto and Zhou Guan Yu. In the third race (3:20pm, live on SPORT1), Austrian Thomas Preining (16, AUT, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) will start from pole position just in front of Schumacher.Race 3
Great start in the ADAC Formula 4 for Mick Schumacher (16, GER, Van Amersfoort Racing). The son of record Formula 1 world champion winner Michael Schumacher won the third race in the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben in front of more than 20,000 spectators at the weekend. The 16-yearold is the first rookie to achieve a victory in the season opener of the new ADAC High Speed Academy. After success in karting, Schumacher is contesting his first season in formula racing for Van Amersfoort Racing this year.
“All in all, I’m really happy with this start to the season and look forward to the nextset of races,” said Schumacher, who had previously placed as best formula racing rookie at this first ADAC Formula 4 race in Oschersleben. Van Amersfoort Racing had two reasons to celebrate, as Schumacher’s team-mate Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing) crossed the finish line behind him in second place, making this a one-two victory for the well established Dutch team. Austrian driver Thomas Preining (16, AUT, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) completed the party on the podium in third place. This was the first podium finish in the ADAC Formula 4 for the newcomer to formula racing with kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport.
Schumacher takes early lead
Schumacher laid the foundations for victory right at the start. He won through against pole-setter Preining with a skilful overtaking manoeuvre after starting from second place on the grid and went into the lead. Schumacher kept his nerve on the re-start following a safety car period on the first lap, pulling out a lead of over a second on Tim Zimmermann (18, GER, Neuhauser Racing), who was chasing hard behind him. The ADAC Sports Foundation protégé was beaten in a scrap for second place with Mawson on Lap 8 and later forced to retire with a puncture.
Mawson, who had started from fifth place, began to hunt down Schumacher towards the middle of the race. The Australian gained ground on his Van Amersfoort Racing team-mate with every lap. Mawson took seven tenths of a second out of Schumacher in the lead on the 15th lap. The 19-year-old was close enough for his first attempt at overtaking on the following lap, but Schumacher defended successfully. Mawson did not get another chance, because the race ended behind the safety car when Benjamin Mazatis (17, GER, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) skidded off track.
Aron just misses third podium in Oschersleben
Ralf Aron (17, EST, Prema Powerteam) in fourth place behind Preining just missed his third podium finish at Oschersleben. The Prema Powerteam youngster put in another convincing performance and improved five places from ninth on the grid. Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark) finished fifth at what constitutes a home fixture for his team, Motopark.

The two Motopark drivers Michael Waldherr (18, GER, Motopark) and Jonathan Cecotto (15, VEN, Motopark) finished eighth and ninth respectively behind Mattia Drudi (16, ITA, SMG Swiss Motorsport Group).
