Formula 4 – Axel Gnos on the podium in Portimao

Swiss driver Axel GNOS participated in the penultimate race weekend of the F4 Spanish Championship still with his G4 Racing team in Portimao, Portugal.

The qualifications:
In the only thirty-minute qualifying session, the drivers had to make three good lap times in order to define their respective placements on the three starting grid of the three races of the weekend.
Axel performed well and obtained the P2 position for Race 1, P5 for Race 2 and P4 for Race 3. This result is very satisfying if we take into account that Axel only had one day of training at the circuit of Portimao to his credit.
Race 1: A decent start did not allow Axel to take the first position in the first corner and he suffered a stroller that caused damage to his suspension putting an early end to this race.
Race 2: A whell spin at the start of the race makes Axel lose two places but he will get both back very quickly. During the various fights, Axel will make a mistake that will cost him a place. Axel will not give up and will achieve the fastest lap of the race to finally finish P6 having been penalized for excess attack …
Race 3: Axel had a good start from his fourth position on the grid. Axel quickly took third place and, while having to protect himself from the attacks coming from the back, Axel put a strong pressure on the pilot occupying the second position without being able to finalize overtaking. Axel finished on the third step of the podium after a good race and still showing good speed. This is the second consecutive podium after Jerez and Axel has consolidated its recent achievements.
Conclusions:
A good weekend both from the G4 Racing team and Axel, some errors but a lot of pugnacity, a remarkable speed and a quick learning.
Thanks:
Axel would like to thank his G4 Racing team for the no-fault, Louis Delétraz for his wise coaching as well as his sponsors « Karting Sallent », « Kids to Win », his parents, friends and ALL HIS FANS !!! for unwavering support.
