After the season opener at Silverstone, the 24H TOURING CAR ENDURANCE (TCE) SERIES powered by Hankook has crossed the Channel for round two, the Hankook 12H MAGNY-COURS (21-22 April, 2017). The former Grand Prix circuit near the city of Nevers in the French Burgundy region, famous for its wine and high-quality Charolais veal, is a new venue on the calendar of the CREVENTIC SERIES. “France is the country where motor racing started and has, of course, a long tradition in endurance racing. It is always a pleasure for us to race there,” CREVENTIC’s Gerrie Willems says. The Dutch agency is the promoter and organiser of the series, in co-operation with the Dutch National Racing Team (DNRT).
In the season opener of the 24H TCE SERIES powered by Hankook at Silverstone, TCR teams enjoyed a clean sweep of the overall podium, with Team Bleekemolen from The Netherlands taking that long-awaited win with its SEAT Leon Cup Racer, followed by the Pit Lane Competizioni Audi RS 3 LMS and the Modena Motorsports SEAT. Boosted by its podium success achieved in Great Britain, Italian team Pit Lane Competizioni will be back in action at Magny-Cours, taking on various SEATs and one Honda Civic in the TCR class, that again promises good competition. A GC Automobiles silhouette car and a Ginetta are entered in the SP3-GT4 category while the A3 class includes a pair of BMWs, a SEAT Leon Supercopa car and a Peugeot 308 Racing Cup car.
Due to calendar clashes making it difficult for some teams to participate, the originally scheduled prototype race at Magny-Cours will not take place. CREVENTIC is in contact with the teams to see if and where this race can be re-scheduled. At Magny-Cours, the spectacular Superkarts will be present as a support category for the Hankook 12H MAGNY-COURS, with a pair of races on Friday.
On Thursday, 20 April, teams from the 24H TCE SERIES powered by Hankook have the chance to familiarise themselves with the circuit during a two-hour private test session from 17.30 till 19.30 hrs. Official track action gets underway on Friday, 21 April, with free practice from 11.00 till 13.00 hrs, followed by qualifying from 14.30 till 16.00 hrs. A night practice session is scheduled from 19.15 till 20.45 hrs. Pre-race activities are taking place on Saturday, 22 April, from 8.00 till 9.00 hrs. The race starts at 9.00 hrs and finishes at 21.00 hrs. After the race, the successful teams and drivers will be honoured during the prize-giving ceremony.
Regular updates will be posted on the various social media channels of the CREVENTIC SERIES powered by Hankook: Facebook (24H Series), Twitter (@24HSeries) and Instagram (24H Series), as well as on the series’ website www.24htceseries.com. Of course, live-timing will be available on the website as well.
