Rahel Frey continues with Audi in ADAC GT Masters

ADAC GT Masters 2014 SlovakiaringYACO Racing have pinned their hopes on a proven partnership for the 2015 ADAC GT Masters. Former DTM star Rahel Frey (29) from Switzerland and Philip Geipel (28) from Plauen will be sharing the cockpit of an Audi R8 for a second successive season in the Super Sports Car League.

Uwe Geipel, YACO Racing team boss : « The pairing of Rachel and Philip was our preferred combination, and I am very pleased that we are going into the 2015 season with an unchanged driver duo. »

Rahel Frey : « We attuned ourselves to each other’s style very well last year. We have an excellent rapport, and I am pleased to be continuing as a member of Uwe Geipel’s team in the ADAC GT Masters. 2014 was already a good year for us, but unfortunately we made a few mistakes in the races. Now we have the opportunity to benefit from the experience we gained last year. »

ADAC GT Masters 2014 SlovakiaringAs the season kicks off on the weekend of 24th to 26th April at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, Frey’s focus is currently on the official pre-season testing on 8th to 9th April at the same venue. This is where everyone will get their first chance to try out the new tyres supplied by ADAC GT Masters exclusive partner Pirelli.

Rahel Frey : « I’ve already had experience of Pirelli tyres from other racing series. We have a lot of work ahead of us in what’s left of the preseason, because we have to find the best set up for the new tyres. »

Philip Geipel is about to contest his third season in the ADAC GT Masters behind the wheel of an Audi entered by his father’s team, and he is looking forward to having Frey as his co-driver again.

Philip Geipel : « We have benefited greatly from Rachel’s experience with the Audi R8 and learned a lot. We achieved some good individual results together, but quite often we didn’t have luck on our side in turning promising positions into good finishes. For this year, we’ve set ourselves the target of achieving consistently good results. We have already got into the routine from last season. The successor to the current R8 will be lining up on the grid at the start of next season, so we want to stake our claim for one of the new cockpits by performing well in this year’s competition. »
