Nico, what is it your impression of your first season in DTM?
Nico Müller : « In terms of pure results it was a tough first DTM season. The reason for that surely wasn’t missing performance from my or the teams side. In many occasions we were on the road to good points, but bad luck with the strategy or other race situations compromised our result.
The most important thing for me in that was to see that the speed was there to fight at the front. I felt very welcome in the Audi family and really enjoyed each race weekend. »
This year, you drove too in Endurances races. In 24h of Nürburgring, you had a retirement with mechanical problem, but, the sunday, you said me that you was happy of your laptimes in sunday morning. Can you say more ?
Nico Müller : « It was an amazing experience to take part in the 24h of Nürburgring. To make my debut on the Nordschleife in an Audi R8 LMS from a top team like WRT made it even more special. The challenge was huge, but despite our retirement it was a very positive race for me as I managed to score the fastest lap time in the whole race of an Audi R8 LMS and the 3rd fastest race lap overall. »
And, you drove a Blancpain 1000, with Rahel Frey and Didier Cuche.. What do you say of this experience ?
Nico Müller : « Having been part of 100% Swiss « equipped » Audi was great, even more so as Rahel & Didier are two great personalities I admire a lot. We had a great weekend and looked strong for a good result…but things then didn’t turn out our way. The whole project was very interesting as Didier really progressed very well…and who knows, maybe we will have another go at it. »
On the Audi finale, you have been confirmed by Audi for the DTM 2015. What is it your objective in the next season ? And, is it possible to see you in Endurance Races in 2015 ?
Nico Müller : « First of all I’m really happy & thankful to stay in the Audi family and the DTM for 2015. I want to build up on what I’ve learned in 2014, score my first podium and finish in the top-10 of the championship. About the endurance races there is no final decision taken yet…but if the opportunity arises, I’d love to give it another go…and make it to the flag! »
Now, the season 2014 is ending and 2015 come. How do you prepare 2015 in winter ?
Nico Müller : « Obviously we try to use the winter time optimal for our physical & mental preparation. Besides some press and marketing events, I also hope to be able to spend some time with my family and friends…which is more difficult during the season. »
