GT Open – Worse weather, a better result!

20b5b292-890d-47c4-9251-504ac5baec60On Saturday, a late summer sun made an appearance, whereas today at Silverstone, the clouds came out, it was rather cold and there were even a few drops of rain. But that didn’t dampen the mood in the Kaspersky Motorsport camp today as Davide Rizzo and Alex Moiseev won the AM class in the second race of the weekend. Adding this win to our third place yesterday means that Round 5 of the GT Open championship can be seen as a successful weekend for the team.

This morning it was Davide’s turn to tackle qualifying for Race 2 and he achieved the same result as Alex on Saturday, putting the Spirit Race/Kaspersky Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 third in the AM category and today, 16th overall. When the lights went out, our Italian driver showed he was in an aggressive mood, pulling off a few passing moves to go into the lead of the AM class. When it was time to hand over the AF Corse-prepared Ferrari, Alex then produced a solid performance to keep the class lead to the end of the one hour race, so that the top step of the podium awaited the duo, to add to the third step achieved on Saturday.

Alex Moiseev: « It’s fantastic to get a class win here. I enjoyed it a lot out there today and it’s great to end up scoring points! I want to thank everyone in the AF Corse and Kaspersky Motorsport team for their hard work and dedication throughout this season. »

Davide Rizzo: « A fun race full of great battles! It went really well, I made some great overtakes and got into a good position early on. I am happy with how the car felt throughout the race. The whole team did a good job and I’m happy for everyone for this result. It’s a well deserved reward for their hard work ».
