GP3 – 2017 Post-season test opens in Abu Dhabi

First of 3 testing days starts tomorrow

The post-season GP3 Series test opens tomorrow, 30th November, at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, a three day test at the venue of last weekend’s final round of the 2017 season which will be the first opportunity for some drivers to work with their new teams, and others to be evaluated for a potential race seat for the 2018 season.

All three days will see the circuit shared between GP3 Series and the FIA Formula 2 Championship, with sessions alternating between them. GP3 will run on Thursday and Friday from 9.00 to 11.30 and then 14.30 to 17.00, with running on Saturday from 8.00 to 10.30 and 13.20 to 15.50 (all times local, GMT +4). The teams will be allocated 7 sets of soft compound Pirelli tyres per car for use across the test.

The test will be the first opportunity for new squad MP Motorsport to run with the GP3/16 after taking over DAMS’ entry for 2018, bringing all their experience from racing in Formula 2 to bear as they look to build their data ahead of the new season.

Alongside the familiar Series returnees many FIA Formula 3 drivers (Jakes Hughes, Callum Ilott, Nikita Mazepin, Jehan Daruvala, Ferdinand Habsburg, Pedro Piquet and David Beckmann) will be looking to impress the teams.
