Corsica entries open for FIA Junior World Rally Championship

Following a thrilling opening round to this year’s FIA Junior World Rally Championship, there’s still time for rallying’s most talented youngsters to register for the series’ second event at the Tour de Corse in April.

Entries for the Corsican fixture close on Monday 5 March, and there remains plenty to play for with one of the biggest prizes in motorsport up for grabs – ownership of a brand-new Ford Fiesta R5 with incentives from Pirelli and Panta with which to contest the 2019 WRC 2 category. Operating on an arrive-and-drive basis with identical one-litre EcoBoost Ford Fiesta R2s prepared by M-Sport Poland, the series consists of five events with the best four counting towards the ultimate prize – so those starting their campaigns in Corsica won’t be faced with a disadvantage. Points are also on offer for fastest stage times, encouraging the sport’s youngest stars to show what they are capable of throughout an entire rally weekend. Double points are also awarded for the final round in Turkey and those wishing to be in which a chance of owning their own EcoBoost-powered Fiesta R5 are encouraged to contact Michal Mozdzierz without delay: mmozdzierz@m-sport.co.uk

FIA Junior World Rally Championship Manager, Maciej Woda, said: « If the first round in Sweden is anything to go by, this year’s FIA Junior World Rally Championship is going to be one of the closest yet – and there’s still time for some prospective young drivers to get involved. Entries for the second round at the Tour de Corse close next week. The four best scoring rallies count towards each competitor’s final score, so missing Sweden poses no disadvantage, and we are keen to welcome some new faces to our growing family here in the Junior WRC service park. »
