It has been a long time since we heard of Philip Ellis, now he returns to the international racing circuits. After a creative break of three years, the 23-year-old British native from Zug (Switzerland) will give a comeback in the Audi Sport TT Cup 2016. Without any experience in karting, Ellis has won the Swiss Formula Lista Championship 2011 and stepped up to the Formula 3 Euro Series straight away.
Despite impressive results as a newcomer, he had to cut the season short due to budget constraints. Currently a student in International Management at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, he successfully applied for one of only 20 cockpits for the Audi Sport TT Cup 2016 as one of 125 candidates from 36 countries. Two races will take place as part of the the 24-hour programme on the Nürburgring and six more doubleheaders during DTM weekends. Son to a British father and a German mother, he will run under the British flag.
Ellis is confident: „I doubt I will be able to fight for the title again right away, since I have to get used to the new car, the tracks and the competitors; and some of my colleagues are entering their second season already. But I will always try to gather good points and to get close to the podium.”
Outside of the cockpit, Ellis is supported by Customized Sports Management GmbH from Bern, providing representation and management services for professional racing drivers and their sponsors.
