It was raining in the morning of the second test day of the Super Formula at the Okayama International Circuit. Therefor all the drivers where out with rain tyres. Fabio Leimer led the list of Honda motor equipped cars with a fourth place at the end of the session. It ceased to rain in the afternoon, but the track only dried slowly due to the cold temperatures. It was only possible to swicht to slick tyres at the end of the second session. The Swiss was leading at this point clearly. There regretably were several crashes during the remaining 20 minutes that led to individual red flags. Fabio therefore had no chance to finish a pushing lap and present a timed lap on the fast tyres.
Fabio Leimer : « I honestly have to say that I’m really happy with the outcome of the test. I was able to show jointly with the team, that I could be a serious contender in the Super Formula. Evidently I’m not to be found in the end at the top of the list due to the crashes, but what’s the saying? That’s racing! The objective of the test was fulfilled. »
