Audi Sport customers with successes in Italy and Canada
Audi R8 LMS GT4
Heidorn unbeatable: At the Italian round and first night race of the Audi Sport Seyffarth R8 LMS Cup’s inaugural season at Misano, Kris Heidorn celebrated his eighth and ninth victories. As a result, the German extended his lead of the standings once more before the season’s finale at the Nürburgring. Audi Sport driver Rahel Frey on the third race weekend of the Cup held in a foreign European country finished runner-up twice. The last place on the podium in both races went to Poland: Bartosz Paziewski and Robin Rogalski each achieved position three.
Third victory this season for Malcolm Strachan: The Audi R8 LMS GT4 has continued its string of victories in the Canadian Touring Car Championship. After Malcolm Strachan at the Canadian debut of the race car two weeks ago celebrated his first two class wins, he mounted the top step of the podium for the third time on the fifth race weekend. The Canadian from Team New Road Automotive Group by Speedstar Motorsport won race two of the GT Sport class at Mosport with an eleven-second advantage. The team had only been formed in July and at the beginning of August took over the first Audi R8 LMS GT4 intended for Canada.
Audi RS 3 LMS (TCR)
Third place in Canada: Team Alphasonic Motorsport on the fifth race weekend of the Canadian Touring Car Championship scored a podium finish. Alain Lauzière in an Audi RS 3 LMS claimed position three in the GT Sport category in race one at Mosport.
Audi Sport customer racing
Canada as a new satellite:Audi Sport customer racing is entering a new growth market in its worldwide customer support activities: Canada is receiving its own branch. While the headquarters in Germany has been taking care of the European market since the launch of the program ten years ago, Audi Sport customer racing Asia, Audi Sport customer racing Japan, Audi Sport customer racing Australia and Audi Sport customer racing USA have to date been in existence as four worldwide bases for the overseas business. Now, a fifth satellite – Audi Sport customer racing Canada – is joining the lineup. There the Canadian Touring Car Championship is the ideal field for the Audi RS 3 LMS TCR race car and the Audi R8 LMS GT4 race car. The first customer teams in 2018 instantly clinched class victories in the CTCC with both models. Individual teams with roots in Canada have commitments in other North American racing series as well. A special aspect in Canada is the fact that the Audi Sport brand and its dealerships are closely integrated in the racing program: retailers support every single one of the six race cars purchased and fielded by the teams to date in the 2018 season.
