Apr\u00e8s une p\u00e9riode plut\u00f4t morose depuis l’arr\u00eat de production de la 159, o\u00f9 seuls deux mod\u00e8les figuraient au catalogue (la Mito et la Giulietta<\/a>), Alfa Romeo inaugurait d’abord sa renaissance avec la tr\u00e8s r\u00e9ussie 4C<\/a>. Mais bien s\u00fbr, pour conqu\u00e9rir une plus large client\u00e8le, il fallait avant tout cette nouvelle berline, la Giulia<\/a>, qui \u00e0 d\u00e9faut de s’\u00eatre vue d\u00e9clin\u00e9e en break, partage sa plateforme avec le premier SUV de l’histoire d’Alfa Romeo : le Stelvio ! Apr\u00e8s une premi\u00e8re mais courte d\u00e9couverte dans son jardin<\/a> (\u00e0 savoir le mythique col du Stelvio), nous avons enfin pu mener un essai complet de sa version 2.0L essence de 280 ch. Avec 1\u2019248 exemplaires vendus en 2017 sur notre territoire, l\u2019Alfa Romeo Stelvio est le v\u00e9hicule le plus vendu de la marque d\u00e8s sa premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e commercialisation ! Ext\u00e9rieurement, la parent\u00e9 avec la Giulia est imm\u00e9diate, mais le Stelvio poss\u00e8de son charisme bien \u00e0 lui qui en fait un SUV encore plus \u00e0 part que ce qu\u2019est la Giulia parmi les berlines. Esth\u00e9tiquement je suis conquis, j’\u00e9mets juste une petite r\u00e9serve sur les plastiques noirs entourant les passages de roue, ce d’autant plus que le Stelvio n’est pas \u00e0 proprement parl\u00e9 un v\u00e9hicule de franchissement. Ses 4.68 m l\u2019opposent naturellement \u00e0 l\u2019Audi Q5, v\u00e9ritable succ\u00e8s commercial qui arpente nos routes depuis des ann\u00e9es. \u00c7a tombe bien, car mon coll\u00e8gue S\u00e9bastien \u00e9tant aussi tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ress\u00e9 par le Stelvio, nous allons croiser les volants durant deux jours, et son \u00ab daily \u00bb n\u2019est autre que la derni\u00e8re Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI, justement ! Le parfait \u00e9talon pour juger de la valeur intrins\u00e8que de l\u2019Alfa Romeo Stelvio.<\/p>\n

Notre Stelvio est une version \u00ab First Edition \u00bb lanc\u00e9e pour son arriv\u00e9e sur le march\u00e9 en f\u00e9vrier 2017. Cette derni\u00e8re n\u2019existant plus au catalogue, la configuration dont nous disposons correspond \u00e0 la version \u00ab Super \u00bb, disponible d\u00e8s CHF 59’050.- avec le quatre cylindre 2.0L turbo essence de 280ch. Notre v\u00e9hicule est en outre par\u00e9 de nombreuses options dont notamment la peinture Rosso Competizione trois couches (CHF 2’550.-), des jantes de 20 pouces Trofeo (CHF 2’000.-), ainsi que les packs Confort, Power Seats, Hiver et Business. Au final, ce Stelio Q4 280 ch revient \u00e0 CHF 69’550.-, ce qui est plut\u00f4t \u00e9litiste et similaire \u00e0 une Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI pareillement \u00e9quip\u00e9e mais avec 252 ch, soit 28 ch de moins que le Stelvio. En revanche, l\u2019Audi Q5 peut se targuer de proposer davantage d\u2019\u00e9quipements en option, comme l\u2019affichage t\u00eate haute, le virtual cockpit ou encore un syst\u00e8me de navigation plus ergonomique.<\/p>\n

\nL\u2019habitacle de l\u2019Alfa Romeo Stelvio demeure \u00e9pur\u00e9 et reposant. L\u2019\u00e9cran central n\u2019est pas tactile et se commande par l\u2019interm\u00e9diaire du pad central, comme sur la Giulia, avec laquelle le Stelvio partage bon nombre \u00e9l\u00e9ments. Pas tr\u00e8s sophistiqu\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019heure actuelle, l\u2019instrumentation de bord n\u2019en demeure pas moins tr\u00e8s intuitive et facile \u00e0 utiliser. Les finitions et les mat\u00e9riaux sont globalement au niveau et ne pr\u00eatent pas le flanc \u00e0 la critique. Premier constat, m\u00eame plac\u00e9e au plus bas, la position de conduite est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus haute que dans le Q5. Ce dernier se veut nettement moins bruyant que le Stelvio, mais \u2013 et c\u2019est une surprise \u2013 plus sec dans son amortissement, alors que le Stelvio passe les in\u00e9galit\u00e9s de la chauss\u00e9e avec une onctuosit\u00e9 \u00e9tonnante. Par contre, le maintien des si\u00e8ges est perfectible d\u00e8s que la route se fait sinueuse. Pour y rem\u00e9dier, il faudra opter pour le pack Sport Interior (CHF 2’100.-) dot\u00e9 des m\u00eames si\u00e8ges que ceux de la Giulia Veloce<\/a>, qui procurent un maintien id\u00e9al sans p\u00e9jorer le confort.<\/p>\n

Lors de mes trajets pendulaires, je vais laisser de c\u00f4t\u00e9 le mode de conduite Normal au profit du mode Advanced Efficiency. Gr\u00e2ce au Coasting (commutation en roues libres en d\u00e9c\u00e9l\u00e9ration) g\u00e9r\u00e9 par la bo\u00eete automatique ZF \u00e0 8 rapports, la consommation est privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e et descend sous la barre des 8 l\/100km en conduite coul\u00e9e. En ajoutant des s\u00e9quences appuy\u00e9es et urbaines, la moyenne s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve entre 11 et 12 l\/100km, ce qui n\u2019est pas excessif pour une auto de ce gabarit affichant 280 chevaux.<\/p>\n

\nA chaque fois que j\u2019en ai l\u2019occasion, je bascule directement du mode Advanced Efficiency au mode Dynamic afin de tirer parti de la sportivit\u00e9 du Stelvio. Oui, vous avez bien lu, j\u2019ose bien parler de sportivit\u00e9 m\u00eame \u00e0 bord d\u2019un SUV. La sonorit\u00e9 se fait alors plus pr\u00e9sente, ce qui n\u2019est pas le cas dans la Giulia Veloce<\/a> qui reste \u00e0 mon go\u00fbt trop discr\u00e8te. Mais surtout, je (re)go\u00fbte \u00e0 cet ensemble moteur\/bo\u00eete parfaitement calibr\u00e9, doubl\u00e9 de ces magnifiques palettes en aluminium dont on ne saurait se lasser. Et que dire du ch\u00e2ssis\u00a0? Les vitesses de passage en courbe sont impressionnantes, et hormis la position sur\u00e9lev\u00e9e, j\u2019ai bien plus l\u2019impression de me trouver \u00e0 bord d\u2019une berline que d\u2019un tout-terrain. La prise de roulis n\u2019est pas d\u00e9rangeante, et il est \u00e0 noter que notre Stelvio d\u2019essai n\u2019est pas dot\u00e9 du Pack Performances (CHF 2’300.-) incluant les suspensions adaptatives SSD ainsi qu\u2019un blocage du diff\u00e9rentiel arri\u00e8re, qui ajouterait encore une touche de sport \u00e0 ce comportement d\u00e9j\u00e0 tr\u00e8s efficace.<\/p>\n

\nRarement la conduite d’un SUV ne m’a paru \u00e0 la fois si \u00e9vidente et communicative, et nul doute que l’\u00e9quilibre des masses participe \u00e0 cette sensation. Par d\u00e9faut, l’entier du couple est distribu\u00e9 sur les roues arri\u00e8re, mais au moindre patinage, l’essieu avant prend le relais instantan\u00e9ment quel que soit le mode de conduite. La direction tr\u00e8s directe compl\u00e8te un train avant incisif, engendrant un placement sain et facile jusqu’au point de corde, avant de mettre pied au fond sans appr\u00e9hension. Au pire, l\u2019ESP corrigera le surplus d\u2019optimisme, mais il n\u2019est pas possible de le d\u00e9sactiver\u00a0! Sur ce point, je ne comprends pas le choix d\u2019Alfa Romeo qui persiste \u00e0 interdire le d\u00e9clenchement des b\u00e9quilles \u00e9lectroniques sur la plupart de ses mod\u00e8les (hormis sur les 4C<\/a> et\u00a0Giulia Quadrifoglio<\/a>). \nL\u2019Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI elle, se m\u00e8ne au besoin sans aucune assistance, mais tant ses performances que son feeling de conduite sont en retrait et amusent nettement moins son conducteur. Plus aseptis\u00e9e et plus technologique, l\u2019Audi est aussi un peu plus accueillante \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re. Mais comme personne n\u2019est parfait, son seuil de chargement n\u2019est pas plat, un attribut pourtant courant sur les v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 vocation utilitaire et dont l\u2019Alfa Romeo Stelvio ne se prive pas, ce qui est bien pratique pour les sports d\u2019hiver… et pour les petits gabarits !<\/p>\n

Les gros rouleurs lui reprocheront l\u2019absence d\u2019affichage t\u00eate haute ainsi qu\u2019un GPS peu pratique\u00a0: gageons que cela sera corrig\u00e9 lors d\u2019une mise \u00e0 jour du mod\u00e8le. En attendant, cela n\u2019emp\u00eache pas la firme italienne d\u2019engranger les commandes, ses ventes \u00e9tant en constante progression\u00a0: apr\u00e8s une ann\u00e9e 2017 record (+117.9%), ses ventes ont encore bondi de 25.7% au premier trimestre 2018.
