Depuis que Mercedes est devenu propri\u00e9taire \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re de AMG, la plupart des mod\u00e8les du constructeur allemand sont d\u00e9clin\u00e9s avec les fameuses 3 lettres, synonymes de performances. C\u2019est le cas pour le cabriolet Classe C, qui est m\u00eame propos\u00e9 en deux versions : la tr\u00e8s affut\u00e9e C63, dot\u00e9e d\u2019un gros V8 4.0 litres de 476 ch, et la plus raisonnable C43, motoris\u00e9e par un V6 3.0L bi-turbo, qui fait l\u2019objet de cet essai. Mais vous verrez que \u00ab raisonnable \u00bb est un terme tr\u00e8s relatif quand il s\u2019agit d\u2019une AMG, m\u00eame lorsque le plaisir de conduire se distille les cheveux au vent.<\/p>\n

D\u2019un point de vue esth\u00e9tique, la C43 AMG Cabriolet joue plut\u00f4t dans la sobri\u00e9t\u00e9, surtout dans la teinte grise iridium m\u00e9tallis\u00e9e. Capote ouverte, ce cabriolet deux portes pr\u00e9sente des lignes sportives et \u00e9l\u00e9gantes. Son capot avant allong\u00e9, sa ceinture de caisse relativement relev\u00e9e et son profil l\u00e9g\u00e8rement sculpt\u00e9 s\u2019\u00e9tirant jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la malle arri\u00e8re lui offrent une taille de gu\u00eape. Naturellement tous les petits plus esth\u00e9tiques propres aux mod\u00e8les AMG sont pr\u00e9sents conf\u00e9rant sportivit\u00e9 et exclusivit\u00e9. Capote ferm\u00e9e, sa silhouette s\u2019apparente \u00e0 la Classe C Coup\u00e9. Notre cabriolet est \u00e9quip\u00e9 d\u2019une toile de couleur bleue cavantiste, ce qui lui donne un air marin. Si Mercedes a opt\u00e9 pour cette capote en toile tendue, c\u2019est probablement pour ne pas trop p\u00e9naliser l\u2019espace de chargement de cette v\u00e9ritable quatre places. Le coffre offre ainsi une capacit\u00e9 de 360 litres capote ferm\u00e9e, mais tombe \u00e0 285 litres cheveux aux vents. A titre de comparaison, le coup\u00e9 offre une contenance de 450 litres. Au besoin, il est possible de rabattre la banquette arri\u00e8re, l\u2019auto se transformant alors en une stricte deux places. <\/p>\n

\nL\u2019int\u00e9rieur est soign\u00e9 jusque dans les d\u00e9tails. On y d\u00e9couvre une ambiance sport-chic de bonne facture, en particulier en ce qui concerne la splendide sellerie en cuir. Les combinaisons de mat\u00e9riaux et de couleurs sont de bon go\u00fbt. Si j\u2019adh\u00e8re totalement \u00e0 l\u2019esth\u00e9tique des d\u00e9corations en alu, je formulerai une petite r\u00e9serve concernant les garnitures \u00ab\u00a0laqu\u00e9 piano noire\u00a0\u00bb que je trouve trop sensibles aux rayures. Heureusement, il y a d\u2019autres finitions disponibles. Le combin\u00e9 d’instruments AMG est tr\u00e8s r\u00e9ussi. A l\u2019heure du tout num\u00e9rique, j\u2019appr\u00e9cie la classe des grands cadrans ronds \u00e0 aiguilles sur fond en damier. L\u2019\u00e9cran multifonction central fait un peu \u00ab\u00a0pi\u00e8ce rapport\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb mais, avec sa diagonale d’\u00e9cran de 14cm, il offre toutes les informations importantes en grand format.<\/p>\n

Les commandes autour du volant, pourtant identiques \u00e0 celles du reste de la gamme, ne sont pas tr\u00e8s intuitives. Au d\u00e9but, je me suis m\u00e9lang\u00e9 les pinceaux \u00e0 plusieurs reprises avec le commodo de droite d\u00e9di\u00e9 au s\u00e9lecteur de vitesses. Je me suis en effet retrouv\u00e9 au point mort alors que je cherchais simplement \u00e0 balayer le pare brise d\u2019un coup d\u2019essuies glace. Pourquoi Mercedes s\u2019obstine \u00e0 ne pas positionner le s\u00e9lecteur de vitesse sur la console centrale\u00a0? Je vois mal l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat, surtout que cela limite le changement manuel aux seules palettes au volant. <\/p>\n

Si vous aimez \u00e7a, cette AMG C43 est faite pour vous. Durant les quelques jours de cet essai, nous avons eu un v\u00e9ritable temps automnal avec des amplitudes de temp\u00e9ratures extr\u00eames, mais seule la pluie est parvenue \u00e0 m\u2019emp\u00eacher de rouler cheveux au vent. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un efficace mais gu\u00e8re esth\u00e9tique syst\u00e8me de coupe-vent et au fameux syst\u00e8me Air Scarf qui souffle de l\u2019air chaud au niveau de la nuque, les passagers avants peuvent profiter confortablement du grand air m\u00eame avec des temp\u00e9ratures inf\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 10 degr\u00e9s. Si malgr\u00e9 tout le besoin s\u2019en fait sentir, en une vingtaine de seconde et jusqu\u2019\u00e0 60 km\/h, la belle cabrio se referme et offre une insonorisation impressionnante, \u00e0 condition d\u2019opter pour la capote acoustique, une option \u00e0 CHF 355.-.<\/p>\n

\nLes mont\u00e9es en puissance sont spontan\u00e9es et tr\u00e8s lin\u00e9aires. J\u2019appr\u00e9cie sp\u00e9cialement la r\u00e9ponse directe et enthousiaste \u00e0 chaque sollicitation de la p\u00e9dale des gaz. Il faut dire que le V6 bi-turbo peut compter sur une boite de vitesse \u00e0 9 rapports tr\u00e8s efficace, alors m\u00eame qu\u2019il ne s\u2019agit pas d\u2019une bo\u00eete \u00e0 double embrayage. Les passages sont rapides et on trouve toujours le bon rapport, quelque soit les difficult\u00e9s de la route et la d\u00e9clivit\u00e9. Au niveau du confort, le train de roulement \u00ab\u00a0RIDE CONTROL AMG\u00a0\u00bb remplit parfaitement sa vocation et offre un confort remarquable m\u00eame en conduite sportive. Car on peut rouler vite en C43 AMG, c\u2019est efficace mais plus facile que r\u00e9ellement amusant. En effet la voiture a un comportement tr\u00e8s s\u00e9curisant. Sa transmission int\u00e9grale 4MATIC y est probablement pour beaucoup. Malgr\u00e9 sa r\u00e9partition de 31% \u00e0 l\u2019avant et 69% \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re, elle poss\u00e8de une l\u00e9g\u00e8re tendance \u00e0 sous-virer, mais de mani\u00e8re progressive et avec des limites tr\u00e8s \u00e9lev\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

\nMalgr\u00e9 un poids cons\u00e9quent, les changements de direction sont vifs et le ch\u00e2ssis peu sujet au roulis. Bon point, la caisse est particuli\u00e8rement rigide pour un cabriolet. Mention sp\u00e9ciale \u00e9galement pour les performances de freinage aussi puissant qu\u2019endurant. Si je devais faire une seule critique en compl\u00e9ment \u00e0 cette pluie de compliments, elle concernerait la direction dont j\u2019aurai appr\u00e9ci\u00e9e un meilleur retour d\u2019information. Mais vraiment rien de r\u00e9dhibitoire.<\/p>\n
