Le hasard du calendrier faisant se chevaucher les essais de ces deux bombinettes, il nous apparut naturel de les opposer.\u00a0Pour cela, rien ne vaut une journ\u00e9e d’essai “volant crois\u00e9” afin mettre en exergue\u00a0leurs diff\u00e9rences. Car malgr\u00e9 un gabarit et des caract\u00e9ristiques tr\u00e8s proches sur papier, ces deux autos pr\u00e9sentent en r\u00e9alit\u00e9\u00a0une sportivit\u00e9 divergente. Au volant !<\/p>\n

Elle h\u00e9rite \u00e9galement de jantes sp\u00e9cifiques de 17′ qui s\u2019accordent bien \u00e0 son look. Pour se\u00a0diff\u00e9rencier de la Fiesta ST, la ST200 n’est disponible que dans la teinte “gris storm”.<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence du pack a\u00e9rodynamique (CHF 1’690.-) comprenant le spoiler de toit et des bas de caisse plus prononc\u00e9s, la Seat Ibiza Cupra sugg\u00e8re un peu moins la sportivit\u00e9, en partie d\u00fb au fait de sa garde au sol sup\u00e9rieure et de ses jantes moins \u00e9vocatrices.<\/p>\n

\nLe maintien des si\u00e8ges est perfectible dans la Seat, mais son volant plus petit et \u00e0 la jante plus \u00e9paisse offre une meilleure prise en main. La position et le maintien sont impeccables dans la Ford, \u00e9quip\u00e9e de s\u00e9rie de semi-baquets Recaro. Mais celle-ci perd le dernier point de par son accoudoir fixe qui peut d\u00e9ranger lors des changements de vitesses.<\/p>\n

\nLa Ford n\u2019est pas pourvue de modes de conduite. Cependant, un bouton permet de d\u00e9sactiver en deux\u00a0temps l\u2019ESP et l\u2019anti-patinage. La Seat est quant \u00e0 elle dot\u00e9e d\u2019un mode Sport qui permet de raffermir les suspensions (DCC) ainsi que la direction, en plus d\u2019augmenter la sonorit\u00e9 via le syst\u00e8me SoundAktor. \nDans les deux voitures, la sonorit\u00e9 est amplifi\u00e9e artificiellement via une enceinte dans l\u2019habitacle. Sautant de l’une \u00e0 l’autre, les diff\u00e9rences \u00e0 la conduite se font rapidement sentir. Le ch\u00e2ssis de la Ford est plus ferme que celui de la Seat m\u00eame lorsque ce dernier est en position \u00ab dur \u00bb. La prise en main du volant de la Ford est un peu moins bonne, mais sa direction est plus communicative et plus directe. Plus rigide, le train arri\u00e8re de la Ford accepte de d\u00e9crocher, tentative vaine avec la Seat. L\u2019exp\u00e9rience de conduite est plus gratifiante dans la Ford, la Seat \u00e9tant plus polic\u00e9e. Aucune des deux voitures n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise en d\u00e9faut sur son freinage, dont le mordant est sup\u00e9rieur sur la Ford. La diff\u00e9rence de poids de 100 kg en faveur de la Ford ne nous a pas saut\u00e9s aux yeux en termes d\u2019agilit\u00e9. Les deux voitures sont \u00e9quip\u00e9es de diff\u00e9rentiel \u00e0 glissement limit\u00e9 \u00e9lectronique, mais sur ce point la Seat remplit mieux le cahier de charges, la puissance passant un peu mieux au sol.<\/p>\n

Les commandes de bo\u00eete et d\u2019embrayage sont nettement plus fermes dans la Ford. Dans ce chapitre aussi, les sensations sont \u00e0 l\u2019avantage de la Ford en termes de sportivit\u00e9. Mais en termes d\u2019agr\u00e9ment, le 1.8L de la Seat offre des relances plus rigoureuses que le 1.6L Ecoboost de la Ford, surtout \u00e0 mis-r\u00e9gimes. Les chiffres le confirment : 320 Nm d\u00e8s 1\u2019450 trs\/min pour la Seat, contre 290 Nm d\u00e8s 2\u2019500 trs\/min pour la Ford. En pratique, la Ford compense une partie de cet \u00e9cart gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa bo\u00eete \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tagement plus court et un poids inf\u00e9rieur.
