Dans celui consacr\u00e9 au volume, il \u00e9crit que \u00abnos yeux sont faits pour voir les formes sous la lumi\u00e8re. Les formes primaires sont les belles formes parce qu\u2019elles se lisent clairement\u00bb. \u00abLes architectes d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui ne r\u00e9alisent plus les formes simples\u00bb, d\u00e9plore-t-il. Sous la photo d\u2019une voiture Delage de 1921, Le\u00a0Corbusier \u00e9crit que \u00absi une habitation ou un appartement \u00e9taient \u00e9tudi\u00e9s comme un ch\u00e2ssis de voiture, on verrait rapidement s\u2019am\u00e9liorer nos maisons. Si les maisons \u00e9taient construites industriellement, en s\u00e9rie, comme des ch\u00e2ssis, on verrait surgir rapidement des formes inattendues mais saines et d\u00e9fendables. L\u2019esth\u00e9tique se formulerait en outre avec une pr\u00e9cision surprenante\u00bb. Une pr\u00e9cision qui \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 de mise dans l\u2019architecture grecque, estime Le\u00a0Corbusier en publiant deux photos de temples grecs, celui de Paestum et celui du Parth\u00e9non, au-dessus de deux voitures, une Humber de 1907 et une Delage Grand Sport de 1921. L\u2019exposition montre \u00e9galement une vue de Pompe\u00ef (photo ci-dessous \u00e0 gauche) que Le\u00a0Corbusier a peinte en 1911 et \u00e0 travers laquelle on retrouve la pr\u00e9cision Un de ses projets d\u2019urbanisme pour Paris porte d\u2019ailleurs le nom de plan Voisin, du nom du constructeur automobile Voisin. Le Corbusier est tr\u00e8s proche du fondateur de la marque, Gabriel Voisin, et poss\u00e8de lui-m\u00eame une Voisin C7 (photo ci-dessus \u00e0 gauche). \u00abL\u2019\u00e2ge de l\u2019auto est d\u00e9sormais survenu\u00bb, \u00e9crit Le Corbusier. Une nouvelle vitesse a empoign\u00e9 la biologie humaine. Remplacement de nos jambes \u2013 mouvement alternatif \u2013 par la roue \u2013 mouvement continu. Ce n\u2019est d\u00e9sormais plus un cheval, mais des v\u00e9hicules d\u2019une puissance de 10, 20 ou 40 chevaux qui ne nous conduisent pas \u00e0 une vitesse double, mais d\u00e9cuple, vingtuple et quarantuple! Il nous faut donc construire d\u2019autres villes.\u00bb<\/p>\n \u00abLe Corbusier se montre ainsi tr\u00e8s critique envers les villes anciennes, qui manquent en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral d\u2019espaces verts\u00bb, estime Martin Waldmeier. \u00abChez la plupart des gens, au d\u00e9but du XXe si\u00e8cle, la vue donne sur des murs ou des cours int\u00e9rieures sombres. Sit\u00f4t entr\u00e9s dans le premier espace de l\u2019exposition \u00abLe\u00a0Corbusier \u2013 L\u2019ordre des choses\u00bb, les visiteurs tombent sur plusieurs livres de l\u2019architecte suisse, naturalis\u00e9 fran\u00e7ais en 1930. Dans l\u2019un d\u2019entre eux, on aper\u00e7oit notamment sept voitures: quatre anciens mod\u00e8les sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 gauche et, sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 droit, trois mod\u00e8les modernes, dont une voiture de course. Une notice pr\u00e9cise que \u00abLe\u00a0Corbusier, dans ses \u00e9crits, fait l\u2019\u00e9loge de l\u2019industrie automobile et de l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie pour leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des machines fonctionnelles et esth\u00e9tiques\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n
