Gino Macaluso \u00e9tait bien connu dans le canton de Neuch\u00e2tel. Il \u00e9tait en effet le propri\u00e9taire de la manufacture horlog\u00e8re Girard-Perregaux de 1992 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 son d\u00e9c\u00e8s, survenu inopin\u00e9ment le 27 octobre 2010 \u00e0 La Chaux-de-Fonds, alors qu’il n’\u00e9tait \u00e2g\u00e9 que de 62 ans. Ce que beaucoup ignoraient, c\u2019est qu\u2019il avait r\u00e9uni une incroyable collection de voitures. Celles-ci sont d\u00e9sormais rassembl\u00e9es au sein de la Fondation Gino Macaluso, cr\u00e9\u00e9e en 2018. Cette collection a d\u00e9but\u00e9 avec la Fiat X1\/9 pilot\u00e9e il y a exactement 50 ans au Tour d\u2019Italie par Clay Regazzoni, dont Gino Macaluso \u00e9tait le navigateur. Nous avons eu le privil\u00e8ge de visiter cette collection – une des plus importantes au monde en ce qui concerne les voitures de rallye – avec l\u2019un de ses enfants, Stefano Macaluso, qui poss\u00e8de la double-nationalit\u00e9 suisse et italienne et qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 le curateur il y a deux ans de l\u2019exposition \u00abThe Golden Age of Rally\u00bb au Mus\u00e9e national de l\u2019automobile de Turin.<\/strong><\/p>\n Quel est le point commun entre Jean Todt (photo de gauche ci-dessous) et Gino Macaluso (avec une pull brun \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de Clay Regazzoni sur la photo ci-dessous \u00e0 droite)? En v\u00e9rit\u00e9, il y en a plusieurs. Tous deux ont d\u2019abord \u00e9t\u00e9 des copilotes de rallye \u00e0 succ\u00e8s. Le premier a ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 vice-champion du monde en 1981, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Guy Fr\u00e9quelin sur une Talbot Lotus. Quant au second, il a commenc\u00e9 par remporter le titre de champion d\u2019Europe en 1972, avec Raffaele Pinto sur une Fiat 124 Spider, puis le titre de champion d\u2019Italie en 1974, aux Elle a d\u00fb en effet c\u00e9der sa place \u00e0 la Fiat 131 Abarth charg\u00e9e de promouvoir \u00e0 partir de 1975 les ventes de la 131 d\u00e9voil\u00e9e \u00e0 la fin de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 1974. Cela un peu de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re que la 205 Turbo 16 devait booster les ventes de la 205.<\/p>\n Si l\u2019on peut comprendre que les responsables de Fiat aient pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 choisir une berline produite en grande s\u00e9rie plut\u00f4t qu\u2019un petit coup\u00e9 \u00e0 moteur central, la X1\/9 Abarth con\u00e7ue sous la responsabilit\u00e9 de Gino Macaluso poss\u00e9dait n\u00e9anmoins de nombreux atouts. Avec son poids de seulement 750 kg, elle \u00e9tait en effet plus l\u00e9g\u00e8re que la Lancia Stratos et, propuls\u00e9e par le moteur de 210 ch de la 124 Abarth, elle \u00e9tait \u00e0 la fois tr\u00e8s maniable et facile \u00e0 conduire. sur ennuis m\u00e9cniques. La voiture \u00e9tait toutefois comp\u00e9titive. C\u2019est avec elle qu\u2019il a termin\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re de copilote avant de se lancer dans l\u2019horlogerie, c\u2019est avec elle qu\u2019il a navigu\u00e9 Clay Regazzoni, le pilote le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre de tous ceux dont il a \u00e9t\u00e9 le navigateur, et c\u2019est aussi avec elle qu\u2019il a d\u00e9but\u00e9 sa collection\u00bb, pr\u00e9cise Stefano Macaluso. Cette ann\u00e9e, par exemple, Stefano Macaluso a particip\u00e9 au Festival of Speed de Goodwood au volant de la Renault 5 Turbo avec laquelle Jean Ragnotti avait remport\u00e9 le Rallye Monte-Carlo en 1981. La veuve de Gino Macaluso, Monica Mailander Macaluso, pr\u00e9sidente de la Fondation Gino Macaluso, conduit r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement la Mercedes 300 SL portes papillon. C\u2019\u00e9tait le cas en 2022 \u00e0 la Targa Florio Classica. Il en va de m\u00eame pour les anciens responsables de Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo et Stefano Domenicali. Gravitant lui aussi dans l\u2019univers Ferrari, notamment pour tout ce qui touche \u00e0 ses aspects juridiques, l\u2019avocat genevois Henry Peter, professeur en droit du sport et fondateur du Centre en philanthropie de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Gen\u00e8ve, si\u00e8ge lui aussi au conseil d\u2019administration de la Fondation Gino Macaluso. On rel\u00e8vera que celle-ci est active elle aussi dans la philanthropie. La Fondation ouvre ainsi r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement ses portes \u00e0 des organisations caritatives, comme l\u2019association italienne des parents d\u2019enfants atteints d’une tumeur.<\/p>\n Les valeurs fondamentales de la Fondation s\u2019articulent autour \u00abde la passion du sport, de l\u2019esprit d\u2019\u00e9quipe, de l\u2019amour des belles choses et de la recherche de l\u2019excellence\u00bb. d\u2019\u00e9tudiants plusieurs aspects de son travail en commentant les lignes de la Bizzarrini 5300 GT qu\u2019il avait dessin\u00e9es vers le milieu des ann\u00e9es soixante et dont un exemplaire fait \u00e9galement partie de la Fondation Gino Macaluso. Cette Bizzarrini, qui c\u00f4toie d\u2019autres voitures de grand tourisme telles que Lamborghini Miura SV, Ferrari F40 et autres Dallara Stradale<\/a> pour n’en citer que quelques-unes parmi tant d’autres, se trouve dans une autre halle que celle r\u00e9serv\u00e9e aux voitures de comp\u00e9tition. Quelques jours avant notre visite, la Fondation avait accueilli un groupe de designers du groupe Stellantis. Ceux-ci peuvent certes trouver de nouvelles sources d\u2019inspiration en visitant le Stellantis Heritage Hub de Turin<\/a>, mais s\u2019ils veulent admirer des voitures qui ne font pas partie du Darniche, l’Audi Quattro A1<\/a> qui a gagn\u00e9 en 1982 au Rallye de Sanremo avec Stig Blomqvist et la Ford Escort pilot\u00e9e par Roger Clark en 1970 au Rallye Londres-Sidney. C\u2019est avec une Escort similaire que Gino Macaluso avait d\u00e9but\u00e9 en rallye en 1968 en tant que copilote de Giancarlo Romano. Et c\u2019est \u00e9galement avec une telle Ford Escort que Jean Todt a termin\u00e9 en 1969 son premier Rallye Monte-Carlo en tant que navigateur de Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Piot. Encore un point commun entre Gino Macaluso et Jean Todt! Et si ce dernier a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sident de la FIA de 2009 \u00e0 2021, Gino Macaluso a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lu en 2001 \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sidence de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration italienne de sport automobile.
