Nom de code MC20, pour \u00ab\u00a0Maserati Corse 2020\u00a0\u00bb. C\u2019est en effet en septembre 2020 qu\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e la supercar de Maserati, plus de quinze ans apr\u00e8s la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre MC12, fabriqu\u00e9e \u00e0 seulement 62 exemplaires. Depuis 2023, la diva italienne propose \u00e9galement de retirer le haut pour se transformer en un in\u00e9dit spyder d\u00e9nomm\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Cielo\u00a0\u00bb dont Sport-Auto.ch a la chance de vous proposer l\u2019essai aujourd\u2019hui. Alors, la marque au trident a-t-elle r\u00e9ussi cette nouvelle entr\u00e9e dans le monde des supercars\u00a0? El\u00e9ments de r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 travers les Alpes suisses.<\/p>\n

Les nombreuses photos r\u00e9alis\u00e9es durant ces cinq jours d\u2019essai parlent d\u2019elles-m\u00eames : la Maserati MC20 est incroyablement belle et poss\u00e8de ce charme intemporel que l\u2019on attend d\u2019une Italienne. Sous certains angles, l\u2019avant me rappelle les non pas moins r\u00e9ussies Porsche 918 Spyder et Ferrari F430. C\u2019est l\u00e0 sans doute l\u2019effet des feux avant verticaux surplombant des ailes d\u00e9licieusement galb\u00e9es. L\u2019arri\u00e8re, large et bas, re\u00e7oit des feux effil\u00e9s qui assoient visuellement la voiture au sol. Bien que l\u2019ensemble de sa plastique ait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e en soufflerie pour assurer des performances a\u00e9rodynamiques de premier ordre, le r\u00e9sultat ne tombe pas dans la d\u00e9mesure : pas d\u2019aileron ni de diffuseur pro\u00e9minent, mais un simple spoiler fixe qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi en carbone sur notre mod\u00e8le (CHF\u00a0 6’173.-). Pour ceux qui en d\u00e9sirent plus, la marque propose un Pack Carbone ext\u00e9rieur (CHF 41’655.-). Enfin, la magnifique teinte “Blu Victory” (CHF 17’026.-) fait partie du programme de personnalisation Fuoriserie cher \u00e0 la marque et qui propose notamment 22 peintures sp\u00e9ciales, dont six teintes mates.<\/p>\n

L\u2019int\u00e9rieur de notre MC20 Cielo d\u2019essai m\u00e9lange carbone et alcantara. La pr\u00e9sentation fait bonne impression, tout en brillant par un aspect \u00e9pur\u00e9 bienvenu dans une supercar. Le double \u00e9cran central pr\u00e9sent dans les Granturismo<\/a> et Grecale<\/a> n\u2019a ainsi pas \u00e9t\u00e9 implant\u00e9 dans la MC20. Le constat est moins flatteur \u00e0 l\u2019utilisation, le manque de boutons physiques pour commander l\u2019ouverture du toit ou r\u00e9gler la temp\u00e9rature s\u2019av\u00e9rant g\u00eanant. Heureusement, l\u2019\u00e9cran offre la possibilit\u00e9 de configurer des \u00ab\u00a0tuiles\u00a0\u00bb permettant d\u2019acc\u00e9der directement aux fonctions de son choix. N\u00e9anmoins, il n\u2019est pas toujours ais\u00e9 de garder son doigt appuy\u00e9 sur une petite surface d\u2019un \u00e9cran durant les 12\u00a0secondes n\u00e9cessaires au d\u00e9ploiement du toit (jusqu\u2019\u00e0 50\u00a0km\/h). La petite vitre arri\u00e8re, pratique pour conserver un contact avec l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur sous la pluie quand le toit n\u2019est pas retir\u00e9, ainsi que la fonction permettant d\u2019obscurcir le toit vitr\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Cielo\u00a0\u00bb se pilotent \u00e9galement via l\u2019\u00e9cran central.<\/p>\n

Toutefois, une fois pass\u00e9 l\u2019effet \u00ab\u00a0waouh\u00a0\u00bb, on se heurte \u00e0 une double r\u00e9alit\u00e9 ; celle de devoir pousser vigoureusement vers le haut pour les ouvrir, ainsi que l\u2019espace occup\u00e9 par ces derni\u00e8res en largeur qui oblige \u00e0 se parquer \u00e0 une bonne distance de tout obstacle \u2013les places en \u00e9pi, m\u00eame larges, doivent \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9es. A titre de comparaison, les portes d\u2019une McLaren 750S<\/a> se manipulent plus facilement et prennent moins de place.<\/p>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 volume de chargement, la MC20 Cielo dispose de la m\u00eame capacit\u00e9 que le coup\u00e9\u00a0: 150 litres, dont 50 se trouvent dans le coffre avant qui ne pourra accueillir qu\u2019un petit sac \u00e0 dos. Quant au coffre arri\u00e8re, sa forme peu pratique ne permettra de ranger que des bagages souples. Et il n\u2019est pas \u00e9quip\u00e9 de bouton, obligeant \u00e0 utiliser celui de l\u2019habitacle ou de la t\u00e9l\u00e9commande pour l\u2019ouvrir\u00a0!<\/p>\n

En somme, cette sublime Italienne n\u2019est pas la championne des aspects pratiques, un point regrettable au vu du confort qu\u2019elle propose en mode GT qui donnerait bien envie de partir en voyage avec elle. Comme vous pouvez l\u2019imaginer, c\u2019est n\u00e9anmoins les modes Sport et Corsa qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 majoritairement sollicit\u00e9s sur les cols de la Furka et du Grimsel<\/a>. Le choix du mode de conduite s\u2019op\u00e8re via une molette sur la console m\u00e9diane et interf\u00e8re sur le r\u00e9glage des suspensions, la vitesse de passage des rapports, le couple antipatinage\/ESP ainsi que l\u2019\u00e9chappement. Il est possible d\u2019assouplir les suspensions, mais l\u00e0 encore la manipulation n\u2019est pas tr\u00e8s pratique\u00a0: il faut glisser le doigt sur le petit \u00e9cran de la molette, puis tourner celle-ci afin de r\u00e9trograder l\u2019amortissement en position Mid ou Soft (selon que l\u2019on se trouve en mode Corsa ou Sport).<\/p>\n

La faible inertie de l\u2019ensemble n\u2019est pas le fruit d\u2019un poids particuli\u00e8rement contenu (1540 kg, soit 65 kg de plus que le coup\u00e9), mais plut\u00f4t de l\u2019utilisation d\u2019une cellule monocoque en carbone. Sans surprise, passer une telle cavalerie au sol \u00e0 travers les roues arri\u00e8re n\u00e9cessite des conditions d\u2019adh\u00e9rence optimales, ce qui n\u2019est pas le cas partout sur ma route. Sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 est du col de la Furka, la MC20 rebondit sur les in\u00e9galit\u00e9s avec une relative facilit\u00e9, mais le train arri\u00e8re peine souvent \u00e0 trouver ses rep\u00e8res. De plus, le trafic et la temp\u00e9rature fra\u00eeche ralentissent la mont\u00e9e en temp\u00e9rature des pneus. L\u2019ordinateur de bord permet en effet de v\u00e9rifier la temp\u00e9rature des Bridgestone Potenza Sport. Ces derniers, de dimension 245\/35 ZR20 \u00e0 l\u2019avant et 305\/30 ZR20 \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re, sont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s sp\u00e9cifiquement pour la MC20 (marquage MGT). Plus large et plus lisse, la descente sur le flanc ouest permettra aux pneus d’atteindre la bonne temp\u00e9rature et de mieux exploiter les capacit\u00e9s dynamiques de la voiture, avant d\u2019attaquer le col du Grimsel<\/a> entre Gletsch et Meiringen.<\/p>\n

Il est appr\u00e9ciable de retrouver une supersportive avec un freinage qui n\u2019est pas trop assist\u00e9 sur les premiers centim\u00e8tres de course de la p\u00e9dale ; merci aux freins en carbone-c\u00e9ramique (CHF 12’296.-). Quant au moteur, il affiche un caract\u00e8re explosif, catapultant la MC20 Cielo d\u2019un virage \u00e0 l\u2019autre \u00e0 des vitesses inavouables gr\u00e2ce aux 730 Nm de couple disponibles d\u00e8s 3000 trs\/min. En revanche, sa sonorit\u00e9 en charge d\u00e9cevra les m\u00e9lomanes, le souffle de la suralimentation venant couvrir son bruit naturel dont on profitera surtout \u00e0 la d\u00e9c\u00e9l\u00e9ration. Au contraire, la sonorit\u00e9 rauque que le moteur distille aux r\u00e9gimes inf\u00e9rieurs sur un filet de gaz correspond \u00e0 ce que j\u2019attends d\u2019une Italienne au gros c\u0153ur et me rappelle m\u00eame la Ferrari 458 Speciale que j\u2019ai essay\u00e9e r\u00e9cemment.<\/p>\n

Les sensations sont \u00e9galement augment\u00e9es par le comportement quelque peu troublant de la transmission, puisqu\u2019un \u00e0-coup a lieu \u00e0 chaque changement de rapport… En mode manuel, on note \u00e9galement une l\u00e9g\u00e8re latence au r\u00e9trogradage, de quoi presque laisser penser qu\u2019il ne s\u2019agirait pas d\u2019une bo\u00eete \u00e0 double embrayage.<\/p>\n

J\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tonn\u00e9 qu\u2019il faille imp\u00e9rativement passer en mode Corsa \u2013 et donc avec l\u2019ESP et l\u2019antipatinage d\u00e9sactiv\u00e9s \u2013 pour l\u2019utiliser. La chauss\u00e9e pr\u00e9sentant un l\u00e9ger d\u00e9vers, j\u2019ai d\u00fb corriger au volant afin de maintenir le cap, avant de r\u00e9duire l\u00e9g\u00e8rement les gaz pour \u00e9viter d\u2019imprimer trop de gommes sur l\u2019asphalte.
