Si vous \u00eates un habitu\u00e9 de Sport-Auto.ch, vous avez s\u00fbrement suivi les \u00e9valuations du Formentor, notamment dans sa version VZ de 310 chevaux<\/a>. Nous avions ensuite d\u00e9couvert le VZ5 en Espagne<\/a>, avant d\u2019en prendre le volant pour un essai complet sur nos routes<\/a>. Afin de me forger ma propre opinion sur le Formentor 5 cylindres dot\u00e9 de 390 ch, j’ai r\u00e9pondu favorablement \u00e0 l’invitation de Cupra pour tester cette version exclusive appel\u00e9e Ta\u00efga Grey, limit\u00e9e \u00e0 999 exemplaires num\u00e9rot\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Ce qui la d\u00e9marque des autres VZ5 ? Sa teinte exclusive Grey Ta\u00efga, sp\u00e9cialement con\u00e7ue pour elle. Les arches de roues noires tranchent avec la couleur carrosserie, et recouvrent les imposantes jantes de 20 pouces noires et cuivres, \u00e9quip\u00e9es de pneus en 255\/35ZR20. Attention aux bas de pare-chocs avant et arri\u00e8re en vrai carbone\u00a0; une touche de luxe qui r\u00e9v\u00e8le son co\u00fbt en cas de rencontre inopin\u00e9e avec un obstacle. Les trous de r\u00e9glage des phares antibrouillard seront appr\u00e9ci\u00e9s des m\u00e9caniciens, mais question design on a d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu mieux.<\/p>\n

En ouvrant la porte, on d\u00e9couvre la num\u00e9rotation, grav\u00e9e au laser, qui t\u00e9moigne de l\u2019exclusivit\u00e9 de cette \u00e9dition Taiga Grey. Le cuir brun (teinte sp\u00e9cifique \u00e0 cette version) qui recouvre le haut du tableau de bord et les si\u00e8ges peut surprendre, mais il s’harmonise \u00e9tonnamment bien avec le cuivre du logo au centre du volant. Les surpiq\u00fbres apportent la touche de classe et de qualit\u00e9 que l\u2019on peut attendre de ce Formentor exclusif. Pour les si\u00e8ges, il faut par contre se contenter des baquets Cupra. S\u2019ils n\u2019offrent pas le look sportif des baquets Sport \u00ab CUPBucket \u00bb, ils offrent n\u00e9anmoins un maintien plus qu\u2019acceptable ainsi qu’un confort appr\u00e9ciable pour les longs trajets.<\/p>\n

La position de conduite est excellente et le volant est muni de boutons traditionnels, plus agr\u00e9ables que les commandes tactiles pr\u00e9sentes par exemple dans la VW Golf 8 R<\/a>. En revanche, la climatisation s\u2019av\u00e8re moins pratique. On peut la commander au choix par l\u2019\u00e9cran tactile, ou par un pad \u00e9galement tactile et non \u00e9clair\u00e9. La fluidit\u00e9 et la prise en main de l\u2019Infotainment ne m\u00e9ritent pas d\u2019\u00e9loge. Mais le v\u00e9ritable maillon faible semble \u00eatre la commande vocale ; j\u2019ai d\u00fb la d\u00e9sactiver, g\u00ean\u00e9 par des d\u00e9clenchements intempestifs lors de discussions avec les passagers. En parlant de passagers, l\u2019espace \u00e0 bord est g\u00e9n\u00e9reux, et les places arri\u00e8re pourront accueillir facilement des adultes. Seul le volume du coffre sera un frein aux familles devant encore d\u00e9placer une poussette.<\/p>\n

Sous le capot, on retrouve la m\u00e9canique 5 cylindres Audi, pr\u00e9sente dans les TT RS<\/a>, RS3<\/a> et RS Q3.<\/a> Par soucis de hi\u00e9rarchie, elle perd 10 ch (390 ch) et 20 Nm (480 Nm) par rapport \u00e0 ses cousines aux anneaux, et le couple maxi est pr\u00e9sent 500 trs\/mn plus tard. Hormis les Audi pr\u00e9cit\u00e9es, le Cupra Formentor VZ5 est le seul mod\u00e8le du groupe \u00e0 pouvoir b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de ce bloc. On ne le retrouve en effet ni chez VW, ni chez Skoda. Ce moteur est accoupl\u00e9 \u00e0 une traditionnelle bo\u00eete DSG \u00e0 7 rapports. Le train arri\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie du diff\u00e9rentiel Torque Splitter, permettant de moduler la puissance transmise sur la roue ext\u00e9rieure, afin de dynamiser son comportement. Le fonctionnement du dispositif a d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9taill\u00e9 dans nos colonnes, notamment lors de notre essai de la gamme VW R sur le circuit de l\u2019Anneau du Rhin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

S\u2019il ne manque pas de puissance, le moteur manque d\u2019agr\u00e9ment dans les bas r\u00e9gimes. Le passage des \u00e9pingles serr\u00e9es doit r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement se faire sur le premier rapport afin de tomber dans la bonne plage d\u2019utilisation du moteur. On en oublierait presque qu\u2019un 2.5 litres se cache sous le capot, si la timide sonorit\u00e9 (merci les filtres \u00e0 particules\u2026) ne nous le rappelait pas. Mais une fois la b\u00eate lanc\u00e9e, la mont\u00e9e en r\u00e9gime est fabuleuse. Les rapports s\u2019encha\u00eenent et la pouss\u00e9e est constante. Largement suffisant pour rouler sur route ouverte ! Le Cupra Formentor VZ5 abat le 0-100 km\/h en 4,2 secondes, ce qui le place dans le Top 5 des SUV<\/a> les plus performants que nous avons pu essayer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Le comportement dynamique nous ferait presque oublier que l\u2019on est \u00e0 bord d\u2019un SUV. Son poids de 1’600 kg, peu \u00e9lev\u00e9 pour la cat\u00e9gorie, ne se fait pas ressentir, et le freinage est difficilement pris en d\u00e9faut. Un l\u00e9ger ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de sous-virage en entr\u00e9e de courbe est connu sur les mod\u00e8les du groupe, certainement amplifi\u00e9 par une monte pneumatique diff\u00e9rente entre l\u2019avant (Nexen) et l\u2019arri\u00e8re (GoodYear) sur notre mod\u00e8le d\u2019essai. Ce qui l\u2019est moins, c\u2019est le l\u00e9ger survirage, provoqu\u00e9 par le pont arri\u00e8re aux sorties pilot\u00e9es. Si la transmission ne permet pas de passer \u00e0 choix de 4×4 \u00e0 propulsion comme la BMW M5 xDrive Comp\u00e9tition<\/a>, elle donne ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 fun qui fait la diff\u00e9rence dans les mont\u00e9es de col. Et pour br\u00fbler de la gomme sur circuit, le mode Drift pourra \u00eatre utilis\u00e9, pour se prendre pour Marc Fleury.<\/p>\n

Une nouvelle s\u00e9rie, encore plus exclusive, vient de faire son apparition sur le configurateur\u00a0: Le Cupra Formentor VZ5 Bat x ABT. Au programme, 450 ch, 530 Nm de couple, et 270 km\/h de vitesse de pointe. Cette s\u00e9rie de 400 exemplaires, affich\u00e9e \u00e0 CHF 84’500.-, sera munie de roues en 20 pouces pour l\u2019hiver, et de jantes ABT en 21 pouces pour l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9. Elle devrait clore la production des 7’000 exemplaires de Formentor \u00e9quip\u00e9s du 5 cylindres. La client\u00e8le ayant d\u00e9laiss\u00e9 le RSQ3 pour son cousin espagnol, aurait d\u00e9j\u00e0 fait regretter \u00e0 Audi d\u2019avoir partag\u00e9 ce bloc.<\/p>\n
