La gamme Range Rover s’est fait conna\u00eetre dans le monde de l’automobile pour ses excellentes capacit\u00e9s de franchissement. C’est dans cette optique que Land Rover organise des stages de conduite sur neige afin de pr\u00e9senter les capacit\u00e9s de tenue de route et de motricit\u00e9 de ses mod\u00e8les. L’exp\u00e9rience d\u00e9bute la veille \u00e0 l’h\u00f4tel Huus, sur les hauteurs de Saanen, dans l’Oberland bernois, dans un cadre \u00ab cosy chalet \u00bb, tr\u00e8s repr\u00e9sentatif de Range Rover : de l’aventure dans le luxe.<\/p>\n

Une vid\u00e9o du dernier Range Rover nous est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e\u00a0: ses capacit\u00e9s de franchissement sont mises en avant, notamment dans l’eau, avec un nouveau syst\u00e8me de surveillance du niveau d’eau, afin d’\u00e9viter de se faire emporter par le courant… S’en suit un briefing anim\u00e9 par les moniteurs qui nous suivront le lendemain, pr\u00e9sentant les bases de la dynamique d’un v\u00e9hicule ainsi que les diff\u00e9rentes cons\u00e9quences d’une perte d’adh\u00e9rence et les techniques pour rattraper un v\u00e9hicule en d\u00e9rive.<\/p>\n

Le lendemain matin, nous partons en direction l’a\u00e9rodrome de Saanen, o\u00f9 une zone a \u00e9t\u00e9 dam\u00e9e afin de cr\u00e9er le circuit de neige, \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la piste. Nous sommes r\u00e9partis en plusieurs groupes de 4 \u00e0 5 personnes avec autant de v\u00e9hicules afin de pouvoir pratiquer un maximum durant les ateliers propos\u00e9s. Devant moi, une pente de plus de 30% me laisse dubitatif quant aux chances d\u2019atteindre le sommet. Mais gr\u00e2ce aux pneus d\u2019hiver Pirelli, de la bo\u00eete de r\u00e9partition en demi-vitesse et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00ab\u00a0Intelligent Driveline Dynamics\u00a0\u00bb, le Range Rover va g\u00e9rer l’effort sur chaque roue, afin d’aller chercher l’adh\u00e9rence maximale disponible sur chacune d\u2019entre elles. Pour la descente, une fonction permet de maintenir une vitesse basse, ainsi qu’une adh\u00e9rence optimale, entre le frein moteur et le frein m\u00e9canique sur chaque roue. Toutes ces assistances sont regroup\u00e9es sous le \u00ab\u00a0Land Rover Terrain Response 2\u00a0\u00bb. Ici, il est possible de prendre le volant des quatre mod\u00e8les de la gamme Range Rover, \u00e0 savoir le Range Rover, le Range Rover Sport<\/a>, le Velar<\/a> ainsi que l’Evoque. Durant ce freinage, c’est uniquement l’ABS qui travaille et qui permet d’arr\u00eater le v\u00e9hicule. La chose se complique lorsqu’il faut freiner en \u00e9vitant un obstacle\u00a0: lors du freinage, les roues avant sont en limite d’adh\u00e9rence, il faut donc braquer le minimum n\u00e9cessaire afin d’\u00e9viter l’obstacle. Le r\u00e9flexe voudrait que l’on braque g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement, afin de prendre de la marge sur l’obstacle \u00e0 \u00e9viter, mais cette man\u0153uvre va mettre trop de contraintes sur les roues avant, qui vont perdre l’adh\u00e9rence et donc la capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 diriger le v\u00e9hicule\u00a0: l’obstacle ne sera donc pas \u00e9vit\u00e9. A l’inverse, le Range Rover peut d\u00e9courager de prime abord par son gabarit et sa masse de 2\u2019770 kg (pour la version P440E) mais gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses roues arri\u00e8re directrices, il est \u00e9tonnamment le plus maniable, son comportement est d’avantage pr\u00e9visible que les autres mod\u00e8les et sa r\u00e9activit\u00e9 sur la neige m’a impressionn\u00e9.
