C’est par une belle journ\u00e9e d’automne que Volkswagen nous a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 sa gamme R lors du \u00ab\u00a0VW R Experience Day\u00a0\u00bb, sur le circuit de l’anneau Rhin, en Alsace. Marque \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re, Volkswagen R GmbH compte plus de 210 collaborateurs, bas\u00e9s \u00e0 Wolfsburg. Elle a pour mission le d\u00e9veloppement, le marketing et la distribution des versions performantes de la marque allemande.<\/p>\n

Cette journ\u00e9e d\u00e9bute avec une pr\u00e9sentation anim\u00e9e par Peter Jost (directeur marketing & ventes) et Benjamin Leuchter (pilote et directeur du d\u00e9veloppement) au sujet des nouvelles technologies introduites dans la Golf 8 R et le Tiguan R. Nous aurons l’occasion d’essayer ces deux mod\u00e8les tout en \u00e9tant coach\u00e9 par Benjamin et Jasmin Preisig, \u00e9galement pilote VW.<\/p>\n

Avec la Golf R de 8\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, les 320 ch et 420 Nm du 4 cylindres turbo 2.0L \u00ab EA888 evo4 \u00bb sont d\u00e9sormais transmis \u00e0 travers un syst\u00e8me baptis\u00e9 \u00ab 4Motion R-Performance Torque Vectoring \u00bb. Equipant \u00e9galement le Cupra Formentor VZ5<\/a> et la nouvelle Audi RS3, ce syst\u00e8me permet de r\u00e9partir le couple entre la roue gauche et la roue droite sur l’essieu arri\u00e8re, via un embrayage multidisques pour chaque roue. G\u00e9r\u00e9 de fa\u00e7on centralis\u00e9e avec les freins et les suspensions, cela permet ainsi une transmission du couple optimum pour chaque roue arri\u00e8re \u00e0 sa limite d’adh\u00e9rence. Afin de pouvoir correctement tester le mode Drift, la surface glissante du circuit a \u00e9t\u00e9 mise \u00e0 notre disposition dans le but de r\u00e9aliser des 8 et des cercles. Lorsqu’on passe la Golf R en mode Drift, celle-ci va r\u00e9partir la puissance de fa\u00e7on \u00e9quivalente entre l’avant et l’arri\u00e8re tout en envoyant un maximum de couple sur la roue arri\u00e8re ext\u00e9rieure au virage. Cela r\u00e9agit donc tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9remment par rapport \u00e0 une simple propulsion, puisque les quatre roues d\u00e9rapant en m\u00eame temps vont parfois reprendre de l’adh\u00e9rence et par cons\u00e9quent, rapidement modifier l’angle de la d\u00e9rive. Le pied lourd est \u00e0 bannir de ce genre de man\u0153uvre : orienter la voiture tout en driftant des quatre roues se fait sur une tr\u00e8s faible variation du r\u00e9gime moteur, qu\u2019il faut r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 maintenir le plus constant possible.<\/p>\n

Sur piste, la Golf 8 R jouit d’une tr\u00e8s bonne motricit\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses diff\u00e9rentes assistances. N\u00e9anmoins, m\u00eame en mode Special, soit le plus radical, l’ESP reste tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sent, notamment dans la limitation de la distribution du couple : si la voiture n’est pas parfaitement align\u00e9e, l’\u00e9lectronique va limiter le couple d\u00e9livr\u00e9, c’est particuli\u00e8rement sensible \u00e0 la sortie du virage Bugatti, dans la longue courbe en appui qui suit, ce qui se traduit par une notoire perte de temps, alors m\u00eame que la voiture ne patine pas encore. Il ne nous a malheureusement pas \u00e9t\u00e9 autoris\u00e9 de d\u00e9connecter l’ESP. C\u2019est fort dommage car nous aurions ainsi pu appr\u00e9cier ce qu’apporte concr\u00e8tement les diff\u00e9rentes technologies embaqu\u00e9es dans cette Golf R en mati\u00e8re de motricit\u00e9 et de stabilit\u00e9. Une chose est claire : ces syst\u00e8mes permettent d’entrer en virage \u00ab \u00e0 la ramasse \u00bb tout en maintenant la trajectoire d\u00e9sir\u00e9e et d’en ressortir avec une motricit\u00e9 impressionnante ! Mais les puristes diront que c’est trich\u00e9…<\/p>\n

Un b\u00e9mol toutefois\u00a0: le maintien lat\u00e9ral des si\u00e8ges un peu faible sur circuit. A noter que pour la premi\u00e8re fois depuis l\u2019introduction de la bo\u00eete DSG, la transmission ne passe pas automatiquement au rapport sup\u00e9rieur lorsque l\u2019on utilise les palettes pour changer les rapports, mais seulement dans les modes de conduite Special et Drift. La VW Golf R est propos\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de CHF 59\u2019100.-.<\/p>\n

On retrouve \u00e9galement le syst\u00e8me de transmission par vecteur de couple sur l’essieu arri\u00e8re du nouveau VW Tiguan R. Anim\u00e9 par le m\u00eame 4 cylindres turbo de la Golf R, le Tiguan R nous propulse de 0 \u00e0 100 km\/h en 4.9 secondes. Il illustre la combinaison entre le dynamisme d\u2019une voiture de sport avec la modularit\u00e9 d\u2019un SUV. Pour arriver \u00e0 ce r\u00e9sultat, un gros travail de d\u00e9veloppement a \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9 par les \u00e9quipes de Volkswagen R, afin de diminuer le roulis, cons\u00e9quence d’un centre de gravit\u00e9 plus \u00e9lev\u00e9.<\/p>\n
