Nos r\u00e9cents essais des Lotus Elise Sport 240<\/a> et Exige Sport 420<\/a> \u00ab Final Edition \u00bb nous ont donn\u00e9 l\u2019occasion de d\u00e9couvrir un nouveau col : celui du Klausen. Et pas n\u2019importe quand, puisqu\u2019en cette date du 3 juin 2021, le col du Klausen n\u2019est r\u00e9ouvert au trafic que depuis la veille au soir apr\u00e8s une tr\u00eave hivernale de plusieurs mois. L’occasion pour nous de consacrer un nouveau chapitre \u00e0 notre s\u00e9rie consacr\u00e9e aux plus grands cols de Suisse<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Le col du Klausen relie Altdorf, dans le canton d\u2019Uri, \u00e0 Linthal, dans le canton de Glaris. Le sommet du col, \u00e0 1’948 m, propose une aire de stationnement ainsi qu\u2019un restaurant. Le lieu est quelque peu encaiss\u00e9 entre deux montagnes – le M\u00e4rcher St\u00f6ckli et le Rau St\u00f6ckli – si bien que ce n\u2019est pas l\u2019endroit qui offre les panoramas les plus int\u00e9ressants. Les deux h\u00f4tels pr\u00e9sents au bord de la route se situent d\u2019ailleurs \u00e0 environ 1,5 km avant d\u2019arriver au col, sur le versant ouest, o\u00f9 la vue est nettement plus belle. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Arriv\u00e9s depuis Lucerne, nous attaquons le col du Klausen sur son versant ouest, depuis Altdorf. Tr\u00e8s roulante, la premi\u00e8re partie de cette mont\u00e9e de 25 kilom\u00e8tres est large et propose diff\u00e9rents types de virages permettant de bien exploiter nos deux Lotus. Mais aussit\u00f4t que la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation se fait plus rare, la route se fait sensiblement plus sinueuse et \u00e9troite. Apr\u00e8s une dizaine de kilom\u00e8tres sur chauss\u00e9e assez tortueuse ainsi qu\u2019une partie impressionnante \u00e0 flanc de falaise, la route est \u00e0 nouveau plus large et plus roulante sur les trois derniers kilom\u00e8tres permettant d\u2019atteindre le sommet. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Sans s\u2019arr\u00eater au sommet, nous attaquons directement la descente dans le but de trouver un endroit plus d\u00e9sert nous permettant de faire des photos. Les restes de neige sont encore plus abondants sur ce versant est, t\u00e9moignant de l\u2019importante quantit\u00e9 d\u2019or blanc tomb\u00e9 cet hiver m\u00eame \u00e0 moins de 2’000 m d\u2019altitude. Peu apr\u00e8s le sommet, nous longeons des murs de neige de plusieurs m\u00e8tres de hauteur, si bien que tout arr\u00eat est interdit dans cette zone \u00e0 cause du risque d\u2019avalanche.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s seulement deux kilom\u00e8tres et deux \u00e9pingles, la route se fait de nouveau plus \u00e9troite et d\u00e9pourvue de ligne m\u00e9diane. Avec ses nombreux virages serr\u00e9s et l\u2019absence de glissi\u00e8res de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 (elles seraient endommag\u00e9es par la neige en hiver), le col du Klausen est d\u2019ailleurs tristement r\u00e9put\u00e9 pour sa \u00ab beaut\u00e9 mortelle \u00bb, certains automobilistes et motards se laissant trop distraire par ses panoramas magnifiques. Nous parquons nos deux Lotus dans la cuvette du lieu-dit \u00ab Chlus \u00bb pour quelques photos. Ici, des hautes falaises forment un arc de cercle autour de nous.<\/p>\n

Nous continuons ensuite notre descente en direction de Linthal. Bien qu\u2019\u00e9troite, cette partie comprenant plusieurs \u00e9pingles permet d’exploiter quelque peu nos montures. La route s\u2019\u00e9largit ensuite et devient quasiment rectiligne sur un plateau long de quatre kilom\u00e8tres. C\u2019est ici, plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment sur l\u2019unique ligne droite de 1 kilom\u00e8tre de Urnerboden, que les pilotes les plus rapides atteignaient des pointes \u00e0 200 km\/h lors de la course de c\u00f4te internationale du Klausen qui a eu lieu de 1922 \u00e0 1934.\u00a0<\/p>\n
