Si esth\u00e9tiquement l\u2019Elise a \u00e9volu\u00e9 en 2001 lors du lancement de la S2, elle n\u2019a subi depuis que des \u00e9volutions mineures. Avec des lignes moins rondes, l\u2019Elise moderne est certes plus agressive visuellement, mais elle nous gratifie toujours de sa bonne bouille souriante. Je ne me lasse pas de ce design intemporel.<\/p>\n
Pour marquer la derni\u00e8re ann\u00e9e de production, la \u00ab\u00a0Final Edition\u00a0\u00bb b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d\u2019options de peinture uniques, de nouveaux autocollants ext\u00e9rieurs et de nouvelles finitions de roues. Si la premi\u00e8re Elise accusait moins de 800 kilos sur la balance, pour suivre l\u2019\u00e9volution des normes en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, de pollution mais aussi de confort, elle a pris un peu d\u2019embonpoint au fils des ans. Rien de bien m\u00e9chant cependant, le poids de l’Elise Sport 240 Final Edition est de 922 kg et il peut m\u00eame est r\u00e9duit \u00e0 898 kg gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une gamme \u00e9tendue de panneaux en fibre de carbone, comme par exemple les couvertures de seuil (CHF 1’750.-) ou le couvercle du moteur (CHF 2’290.-). Une fois l\u2019exercice de gymnastique termin\u00e9, on se retrouve clairement dans la m\u00eame ambiance que dans les anciennes. Ici, il faut oublier toute notion de luxe et de confort. Une plaque indiquant le statut exclusif et limit\u00e9 de cette \u00ab Final Edition \u00bb a pris place sous la bouche d’a\u00e9ration, c\u00f4t\u00e9 passager. Mais la vraie nouveaut\u00e9 concerne le combin\u00e9 d’instruments num\u00e9riques LCD qui offre deux styles d\u2019affichage : un analogique traditionnel avec un tachym\u00e8tre circulaire et un plus sportif \u00e0 barres lin\u00e9aires et un t\u00e9moin de haut r\u00e9gime. Notons encore le superbe levier de bo\u00eete de vitesses en aluminium avec, en dessous, une partie de sa tringlerie apparente.<\/p>\n

Au c\u0153ur de l’Elise, en position centrale arri\u00e8re, se trouve un moteur suraliment\u00e9 par compresseur de quatre cylindres d\u2019origine Toyota. D\u2019une cylindr\u00e9e de 1,8 litre, il d\u00e9livre une puissance de 240 ch\u00a0; exactement le double de l\u2019Elise gar\u00e9e dans mon garage.<\/p>\n
Un rapport poids\/puissance de 3.79 propulse notre roadster \u00e0 100 km\/h en 4,5 secondes. Le tout est transmis aux roues arri\u00e8re par l’interm\u00e9diaire d’une bo\u00eete manuelle \u00e0 six rapports.<\/p>\n

Autre atout de son faible poids, l’Elise ne consomme que tr\u00e8s peu de carburant. Il faut la brusquer \u00e9nergiquement pour d\u00e9passer les 8,5 l\/100km et les \u00e9missions de CO2 de 177 g\/km sont extr\u00eamement faibles au vu des performances offertes.<\/p>\n
Les cols de montagne sont logiquement le terrain de jeu favoris de l\u2019Elise. \u00c7a tombe bien, sur les quelques jours de notre essai nous avons eu l\u2019occasion de fr\u00e9quenter les cols du Gothard et du Klausen, fraichement sorti de sa fermeture hivernale. D\u00e8s les premiers virages, je retrouve la magie qui m\u2019a fait tant adorer la premi\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9ration\u00a0: l\u2019absence de direction assist\u00e9e, la boite de vitesse manuelle dont le pommeau tombe merveilleusement dans la main et cette tenue de route fantastique donnent le vertige tant on a l\u2019impression de faire corps avec la voiture. Certes, l\u2019\u00e9lectronique a fait son apparition, mais elle sait se faire tr\u00e8s discr\u00e8te. Malgr\u00e9 l\u2019absence d\u2019assistance, la direction est toujours aussi plaisante, inondant mes mains d\u2019informations.<\/p>\n

Dans les virages rapides, il y a l\u00e9ger sous-virage, aussi stable que s\u00e9curisant et que les 243 chevaux permettent de juguler. Les virages lents demandent un peu plus d\u2019attention. Si le transf\u00e8re des masses n\u2019est pas correctement effectu\u00e9, l\u2019Elise a une l\u00e9g\u00e8re tendance \u00e0 sous-virer en entr\u00e9e de virage tandis que l\u2019arri\u00e8re peut d\u00e9crocher \u00e0 la relance. Toutefois, avec un couple modeste de 244 Nm, elle n\u2019a pas tendance \u00e0 glisser comme le ferait une Alpine A110<\/a> (320 Nm), ou m\u00eame une Alfa Romeo 4C<\/a> (350 Nm).
