Apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9but\u00e9 notre s\u00e9rie consacr\u00e9e aux plus grands cols de Suisse avec le col du Nufenen<\/a>, nous vous emmenons aujourd\u2019hui au col de l\u2019Oberalp au volant des VW T-Roc R<\/a> et Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition<\/a> essay\u00e9es l’ann\u00e9e pass\u00e9e. Et \u00e7a tombe bien, car apr\u00e8s la traditionnelle fermeture hivernale, le col de l’Oberalp est \u00e0 nouveau ouvert \u00e0 la circulation depuis quelques jours, le 27 avril 2021. Il faudra en revanche patienter encore quelques semaines avant de pouvoir fouler l\u2019asphalte de la plupart des cols environnants. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Culminant \u00e0 2\u2019044 m d\u2019altitude, le col de l\u2019Oberalp relie Andermatt, dans le canton d\u2019Uri, \u00e0 Disentis, dans le canton des Grisons. Sa principale particularit\u00e9 r\u00e9side dans la ligne de chemin de fer qui suit la route par endroits et passe \u00e9galement par le col. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la compagnie Matterhorn-Gotthard Bahn, il est ainsi possible de franchir le col de l\u2019Oberalp \u00e9galement durant l\u2019hiver entre Andermatt et Sedrun, commune situ\u00e9e \u00e0 quelques kilom\u00e8tres de Disentis.<\/p>\n

Le versant ouest du col de l\u2019Oberalp, long de 11 km, est particuli\u00e8rement roulant. D\u00e8s la sortie d\u2019Andermatt, la mont\u00e9e commence par une dizaine d\u2019\u00e9pingles \u00e0 rayon moyen ou large, avant de devenir plus rectiligne jusqu\u2019au sommet. De quoi bien d\u00e9gourdir nos deux montures de plus de 300 chevaux. La route est bien large et heureusement, car ce col attire de nombreux cyclistes, surtout en \u00e9t\u00e9 comme ce fut le cas lors de notre premier p\u00e9riple en juillet dernier.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir long\u00e9 le petit lac de l\u2019Oberalp, on arrive au sommet du col. Ce dernier est assez atypique, les voies de chemin de fer et les remont\u00e9es m\u00e9caniques de la station de ski y prenant une large place. A proximit\u00e9 du parking, on aper\u00e7oit rapidement le phare de Rheinquelle. Ce dernier est en fait une r\u00e9plique \u00e0 \u00e9chelle r\u00e9duite du phare Unterfeuer \u00e0 Hoek van Holland situ\u00e9 \u00e0 l’embouchure du Rhin. La raison de sa pr\u00e9sence ? A quelques kilom\u00e8tres au sud du col se trouve le lac Toma (2\u2019344 m), consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme la source du Rhin. Depuis le phare, un sentier p\u00e9destre permet de le rejoindre en moins de deux heures. Le col de l\u2019Oberalp est \u00e9galement le point de d\u00e9part de nombreux autres circuits p\u00e9destres.<\/p>\n

Le versant est, qui descend jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Disentis, comporte une premi\u00e8re partie sinueuse avec une dizaine d\u2019\u00e9pingles, qui sont pour la plupart plus serr\u00e9es et plus \u00e9troites que sur l\u2019autre versant. Le d\u00e9but du sentier menant au lac Toma offre une vue surplombante sur ces virages. Tr\u00e8s plaisante pour les adeptes de conduite, cette section est sans doute consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme le dernier \u00ab coup de collier \u00bb par ceux qui montent le col avec des v\u00e9hicules poussifs ou encombrants.<\/p>\n
