Malgr\u00e9 sa teinte noire qui n\u2019est pas ma couleur f\u00e9tiche, le charme op\u00e8re instantan\u00e9ment lorsque je d\u00e9couvre la 4C qui m\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 allou\u00e9e. Il faut dire qu\u2019Alfa Romeo a frapp\u00e9 fort en termes de design pour reconqu\u00e9rir une client\u00e8le perdue depuis l\u2019abandon de la propulsion au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 90, puis lors de l\u2019arr\u00eat de la production des Spider\/Brera. Le lien de parent\u00e9 avec la tr\u00e8s confidentielle 8C, sortie en 2007, est imm\u00e9diat. Mais cette fois-ci, point question de s\u00e9rie limit\u00e9e ni de tarifs prohibitifs\u00a0: la marque au serpent produit 3’000 exemplaires de la 4C par ann\u00e9e depuis janvier 2014, qui contribuent \u00e0 redorer son image sportive avec m\u00e9rite. En 2015, une version Spider a m\u00eame fait son apparition au catalogue.<\/p>\n

Compte-rendu apr\u00e8s plus de 2\u2019000 km parcourus dans un seul but : la qu\u00eate du plaisir de conduite !<\/p>\n

De par son positionnement tarifaire et son architecture \u00e0 moteur central arri\u00e8re, la presse a r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement tendance \u00e0 opposer l\u2019Alfa Romeo 4C au Porsche Cayman, \u00e0 tort\u00a0! En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, la 4C s\u2019inscrit dans le cercle tr\u00e8s restreint des voitures ferm\u00e9es revendiquant plus de 200ch pour moins d\u2019une tonne, ce qui en fait, en attendant l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de la future Alpine<\/a>, l\u2019unique rivale de la Lotus Elise S. Cela se v\u00e9rifie rapidement sur la route : l\u2019agr\u00e9ment et les sensations sont tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents de ceux d\u2019un Cayman ! Nous avons, au passage, pu mesurer le poids de notre 4C : 979 kg avec quelques litres de carburant, une climatisation optionnelle gratuite et des jantes plus g\u00e9n\u00e9reuses de 18\u2019 \u00e0 l\u2019avant et 19\u2019 \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re (CHF 1’750.-).<\/p>\n

L\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 bord ne n\u00e9cessite pas de contorsions et gr\u00e2ce aux r\u00e9glages en hauteur et profondeur du volant, mes 195 cm trouvent une position de conduite acceptable. Le cocon de la 4C est joliment dessin\u00e9 et cossu avec ses magnifiques si\u00e8ges en cuir rouge (CHF 1’700.-), m\u00eame si leur maintien est perfectible, sensation augment\u00e9e par le cuir qui adh\u00e8re moins que le tissu. Le petit volant \u00e0 m\u00e9plat, la haute dose de carbone et le p\u00e9dalier en aluminium ne manquent pas de faire leur effet, m\u00eame si dans un souci de poids, le tout reste tr\u00e8s d\u00e9pouill\u00e9 : simple, mais classe. L\u2019instrumentation est 100% num\u00e9rique et l\u2019unique transmission disponible est une bo\u00eete s\u00e9quentielle \u00e0 double embrayages \u00e0 6 rapports.<\/p>\n

Dommage que certains \u00e9l\u00e9ments aient \u00e9t\u00e9 repris des mod\u00e8les existants, nous rappelant que la 4C s\u2019inscrit dans un contexte financier difficile pour le groupe italien. Par exemple, les palettes en plastique qui, si elles ne choquent pas dans une Giulietta, auraient ici m\u00e9rit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00eatre en aluminium ! Mais je ne dois pas oublier que je me trouve install\u00e9 au c\u0153ur d\u2019un ch\u00e2ssis en carbone qui ne p\u00e8se que 65 kg : pour un prix de CHF 71’000.-, personne ne l\u2019avait encore fait !<\/p>\n

En utilisation quotidienne, la souplesse du moteur et le comportement de la transmission sont convaincants, tout comme la consommation qui descend facilement sous les 7 l\/100km sur autoroute, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 et son a\u00e9rodynamisme ! Attention, le r\u00e9gulateur de vitesse est en option\u2026 gratuite ! Le coffre modeste de 110 litres permet d\u2019emmener une valise compacte et quelques affaires, c\u2019est d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e7a. Pour rester confiant dans toutes les conditions, on trouve un mode All Weathers, permettant de r\u00e9duire la r\u00e9activit\u00e9 des gaz et d\u2019adoucir les changements de rapport. Avec son centre de gravit\u00e9 bas et son emp\u00e2tement court (2\u2019380 mm), la 4C fait preuve d\u2019une excellente agilit\u00e9, mais faire corps avec elle n\u00e9cessite un certain temps d\u2019adaptation ; avec un temps de r\u00e9ponse marqu\u00e9, le couple n\u2019est pas facile \u00e0 doser au d\u00e9but et le train avant suit toutes les asp\u00e9rit\u00e9s de la chauss\u00e9e. Une fois acclimat\u00e9, je remarque que le train arri\u00e8re encaisse sans broncher l\u2019avalanche de couple (350 Nm d\u00e8s 2\u2019200 trs\/min) d\u00e9livr\u00e9e par le 1\u2019750 cm3 suraliment\u00e9 : lorsque les conditions d\u2019adh\u00e9rences sont optimales, il faut le faire expr\u00e8s pour entamer une d\u00e9rive. En revanche, le train avant demande plus d\u2019attention : alors que le sous-virage guette celui qui se rue trop t\u00f4t sur les gaz sans avoir frein\u00e9 suffisamment, la 4C est tr\u00e8s sensibles aux changements de caps ; lors de sur-braquages, les roues avant reprennent subitement plus d\u2019adh\u00e9rence qu\u2019attendu, faisant tourner la voiture plus que d\u00e9sir\u00e9. La 4C demande \u00e0 \u00eatre pilot\u00e9e avec rigueur et anticipation sur la trajectoire \u00e0 adopter afin d\u2019en tirer toute sa quintessence.<\/p>\n

Une fois ces r\u00e8gles assimil\u00e9es, le plaisir est \u00e0 son apog\u00e9e sur les routes sinueuses et les sensations d\u00e9livr\u00e9es de tout premier ordre avec un 0 \u00e0 100 km\/h effectu\u00e9 en 4.5 secondes \u00e0 ras le bitume ! La bo\u00eete est bien \u00e9tag\u00e9e pour les petites routes sinueuses (rupteur 2\u00e8me vers 80 km\/h) et je suis litt\u00e9ralement plaqu\u00e9 au si\u00e8ge par les 240ch de l\u2019engin \u00e0 chaque fois que le turbo entre en action, le tout \u00e0 la sauce sonore tr\u00e8s \u00ab wastgate \u00bb ! Le touch\u00e9 de route est excellent et je ressens la moindre bosse ou perte d\u2019adh\u00e9rence \u00e0 travers la direction. M\u00eame sans avoir \u00e0 s\u2019occuper d\u2019une bo\u00eete manuelle, les sensations renvoy\u00e9es et l\u2019attention qu\u2019elle n\u00e9cessite \u00e0 rythme soutenu rendent sa conduite physique, fait rare de nos jours !<\/p>\n

\nLe mode Dynamic augmente \u2013 trop \u2013 la sensibilit\u00e9 des gaz, retarde l\u2019action de l\u2019ESP et augmente le r\u00e9gime des changements de rapports en automatique, m\u00eame si j\u2019ai pour ma part us\u00e9 des palettes en permanence\u2026 Dans ce mode, l\u2019overrun pr\u00e9sent au rel\u00e2ch\u00e9 de gaz est supprim\u00e9, rendant la conduite encore plus bestiale ! Le freinage ne souffre d\u2019aucun d\u00e9faut, tant sur l\u2019endurance que sur la commande progressive et peu assist\u00e9e, et l\u2019ABS reste discret. Dans le mode Race, l\u2019ESP est totalement d\u00e9sactiv\u00e9 et un Gm\u00e8tre fait son apparition dans le cadran qui se pare d\u2019un jaune vif\u00a0!<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 sa fermet\u00e9, le ch\u00e2ssis sport se joue des compressions avec une \u00e9tonnante facilit\u00e9 \u00e0 mesure que le rythme augmente, au point de les aborder sans appr\u00e9hension, comme c\u2019est le cas entre Bi\u00e8re et le col du Marchairuz o\u00f9 la 4C mettra \u00e0 mal bon nombre de GTs plus puissantes. Les mouvements de caisse sont limit\u00e9s mais permettent d\u2019appr\u00e9cier les transferts de masse \u00e0 leur juste valeur. L\u2019\u00e9chappement sport qui, comme le ch\u00e2ssis pr\u00e9cit\u00e9, fait partie du pack Racing (CHF 2’750.-), me fait profiter pleinement du temp\u00e9rament explosif du moteur, en procurant de jolies d\u00e9flagrations \u00e0 chaque mont\u00e9e de rapport, ce au d\u00e9triment d\u2019une r\u00e9sonance marqu\u00e9e \u00e0 120 km\/h… Mais comme on dit : on n\u2019a rien sans rien ! Radicale la 4C ? Oui !<\/p>\n

Hormis certains mat\u00e9riaux perfectibles dans son habitacle, l\u2019Alfa Romeo 4C ne souffre d\u2019aucun d\u00e9faut r\u00e9dhibitoire compte tenu de son prix et du plaisir intense qu\u2019elle apporte en retour. Basse, l\u00e9g\u00e8re, tr\u00e8s agile et peu assist\u00e9e, la 4C est une auto sensationnelle. Plus performante qu\u2019une Lotus Elise S, son charme irr\u00e9sistible s\u2019oppose totalement \u00e0 celui de l\u2019anglaise et lui donne une raison de plus d\u2019exister dans ce segment de niche. Il ne reste plus qu\u2019une chose \u00e0 faire aux int\u00e9ress\u00e9s : (re)faire confiance \u00e0 Alfa Romeo.
