Afin de s\u00e9duire une client\u00e8le de plus en plus exigeante, Renault a ressorti les griffes \u00ab Trophy \u00bb au printemps de l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, en pr\u00e9sentant au Salon de l\u2019Automobile de Gen\u00e8ve, sa version la plus aboutie de la gamme, la Clio RS Trophy 220 EDC. Equip\u00e9e d\u2019un moteur 4 cylindres turbo de 1\u2019618 cm3, elle affiche fi\u00e8rement une puissance de 220 ch \u00e0 6’050 trs\/min et un couple de 260 Nm (+ 20Nm sur les 4e et 5e rapports gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019overboost) sur une plage comprise entre 2\u2019000 \u00e0 5\u2019700 trs\/min. Avec cette nouvelle version de la Clio RS, uniquement disponible avec la bo\u00eete EDC \u00e0 double embrayage (commande via palettes\/shifter ou en mode automatique), le constructeur fran\u00e7ais annonce des changements de vitesses plus dynamiques avec un gain de 30% dans les modes \u00ab sport \u00bb et \u00ab race \u00bb par rapport \u00e0 la version Clio RS 200. Allez, on monte \u00e0 bord. D’entr\u00e9e, les magnifiques palettes en alu donnent le ton : il va y avoir du sport ! Installation ais\u00e9e ; les r\u00e9glages et autres boutons de commande se trouvent l\u00e0 o\u00f9 la main s\u2019y attend, et je trouve rapidement une position de conduite id\u00e9ale, ce qui n\u2019est pas toujours \u00e9vident lorsque l’on mesure moins de 1,6 m\u2026 Je suis notamment s\u00e9duite par l\u2019ergonomie et le design des nouveaux si\u00e8ges avant avec appuie-t\u00eate int\u00e9gr\u00e9. Disponible \u00e0 partir de CHF 28’500.-, ma voiture d\u2019essai est en plus dot\u00e9e de la sellerie cuir (CHF 2’000.-) et du chauffage des si\u00e8ges avant (CHF 350.-). Autre privil\u00e8ge, notre monture d\u2019essai arborait la nouvelle robe \u00ab Givre nacr\u00e9 mat \u00bb, avec le toit noir brillant (CHF 2’000.-), qui malgr\u00e9 son entretien d\u00e9licat, pourrait bien devenir embl\u00e9matique de cette version exclusive qu\u2019est la Trophy.<\/p>\n

En mode automatique \u00ab\u00a0normal\u00a0\u00bb, les passages de rapports se font tout en douceur, ce qui est tr\u00e8s appr\u00e9ciable en ville ou lors de circulation ralentie (\u00e0 noter que le dispositif \u00ab\u00a0Start & Stop\u00a0\u00bb n\u2019entre en action que dans ce mode). Malgr\u00e9 son flegme apparent dans cette configuration, le moteur fait preuve d\u2019une souplesse agr\u00e9able, tant et si bien qu\u2019il vaut mieux d\u00e9j\u00e0 surveiller le compteur\u00a0lors des relances.<\/p>\n
Pour profiter pleinement des performances du 1.6L turbo, une pression sur le bouton \u00ab R.S. Drive \u00bb change la cartographie de la bo\u00eete, et me fait passer en mode \u00ab sport \u00bb. Le moteur se fait de suite plus pr\u00e9sent dans l\u2019habitacle par un effet d\u2019amplification : l\u2019admission de l\u2019air est amplifi\u00e9e m\u00e9caniquement et conduite dans l\u2019habitacle ; on l\u2019entend particuli\u00e8rement lors du passage des vitesses. Le gain de couple surtout, se fait imm\u00e9diatement sentir, et les passages de rapport sont plus rapides.<\/p>\n

Avec un ch\u00e2ssis dont la sportivit\u00e9 annonc\u00e9e n\u2019est pas galvaud\u00e9e, les acc\u00e9l\u00e9rations sont m\u00eame per\u00e7ues comme \u00ab\u00a0douces\u00a0\u00bb et la vitesse atteinte sous-estim\u00e9e\u00a0: le conducteur non averti aura t\u00f4t fait de se laisser surprendre\u00a0!<\/p>\n
Tant ses freins, qui ne manquent pas de mordant, que son ch\u00e2ssis et ses diff\u00e9rents dispositifs d\u2019assistance, sont \u00e0 la hauteur de la m\u00e9canique et permettent au conducteur lambda de maintenir le cap en conditions difficiles.<\/p>\n

\nA noter qu\u2019en mode sport, si une certaine d\u00e9rive est autoris\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019ESC plus permissif, en mode \u00ab\u00a0race\u00a0\u00bb, celui-ci est totalement d\u00e9sactiv\u00e9, tout comme l\u2019anti-patinage et le diff\u00e9rentiel \u00e0 glissement limit\u00e9 \u00e9lectronique, freinant ou non la roue avant qui en a besoin. Dommage de ne pas pouvoir en b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier en mode race, car ce \u00ab\u00a0faux\u00a0\u00bb diff\u00e9rentiel autobloquant fait plut\u00f4t bien son travail en mode sport, limitant bien le sous-virage en relance au d\u00e9triment de l\u2019usure des plaquettes de frein avant.<\/p>\n

Les pneus, associ\u00e9s \u00e0 un ch\u00e2ssis raffermi de 50% et rabaiss\u00e9 de 20mm \u00e0 l\u2019avant et 10mm \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re par rapport \u00e0 la Clio RS 200, lui conf\u00e8rent un centre de gravit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s bas, et donc une grande stabilit\u00e9. Cette configuration quelque peu rigide conc\u00e8de en pr\u00e9cision sur rev\u00eatements d\u00e9grad\u00e9s, avec une direction qui peut para\u00eetre quelque peu \u00ab\u00a0artificielle\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n
Malgr\u00e9 l\u2019absence de diff\u00e9rentiel \u00e0 glissement limit\u00e9 m\u00e9canique, nul doute que cette Clio RS Trophy ne demande que de larges bandes de bitume pour exprimer pleinement son potentiel.<\/p>\n
