\nC\u2019est au Salon de Gen\u00e8ve de 1964 qu\u2019Abarth pr\u00e9sente pour la premi\u00e8re fois une version modifi\u00e9e de la Fiat 500. Baptis\u00e9e Fiat Abarth 695, il s\u2019agissait d\u2019une version sportive de celle qu\u2019on surnommait \u00ab\u00a0pot de yaourt\u00a0\u00bb en raison de ses dimensions compactes destin\u00e9es \u00e0 concurrencer la Vespa. Un demi-si\u00e8cle plus tard la marque au scorpion revient avec un mod\u00e8le totalement radical, l\u2019Abarth 695 Biposto. Une version extr\u00eame qui abandonne sa vocation citadine pour se muer en v\u00e9ritable b\u00eate de course homologu\u00e9e pour la route ! Premier indice, comme son nom l\u2019indique, la Biposto est une stricte deux places, mais ce n\u2019est pas tout\u00a0: moteur gonfl\u00e9, demi arceau de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, baquets sp\u00e9cifiques, harnais 4 points et\u2026 la fameuse bo\u00eete de vitesses \u00e0 crabots avec sa tringlerie apparente ! Mais pour en profiter, il faudra faire quelques sacrifices\u2026<\/p>\n

Un simple coup d\u2019\u0153il \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur provoque une d\u00e9charge d\u2019adr\u00e9naline.\u00a0 Chaque \u00e9l\u00e9ment semble d\u00e9riv\u00e9 directement de la comp\u00e9tition, comme le syst\u00e8me d’acquisition de donn\u00e9es coupl\u00e9 au compte-tour central num\u00e9rique, ou encore l\u2019imposant levier de l\u2019audacieuse bo\u00eete \u00e0 crabots, qui fait partie du pack optionnel \u00ab Innesti Frontali \u00bb (CHF 12\u2019500.-). Difficile de croire que cet engin est homologu\u00e9 pour la route, et pourtant\u2026\u00a0 Par contre, dans cet univers sportif, vous ne trouverez ni climatisation, ni autoradio, consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme sources de poids inutile. Un r\u00e9gime minceur qui, associ\u00e9 \u00e0 une utilisation prolifique du carbone, permet \u00e0 la Biposto de se maintenir en dessous de la tonne (997 kg). Sous le capot, Abarth a install\u00e9 un moteur 4 cylindre de 1.4 litre d\u00e9veloppant 190 ch \u00e0 5’500 trs\/min. Notre Italienne b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie ainsi d\u2019un excellent rapport poids\/puissance de 5.25 kg\/ch qui lui permet\u00a0 d\u2019atteindre les 100 km\/h en moins de 6 secondes.<\/p>\n

Je l\u2019avoue, \u00e0 l\u2019heure de r\u00e9ceptionner ma voiture d\u2019essai, j\u2019avais encore quelques doutes sur ma capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 utiliser une bo\u00eete \u00e0 crabots. Dans le cas de notre Biposto, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une boite d\u00e9pourvue de synchros, si bien que les pignons s\u2019engr\u00e8nent sans progression. Si le craquement retentissant effraye un peu au d\u00e9but, on y prend vite go\u00fbt. Un pilote aguerri peut m\u00eame se permettre de passer les rapports \u00ab\u00a0\u00e0 la vol\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb, sans d\u00e9brayer. Personnellement je n\u2019appr\u00e9cie que modestement cette sensation de malmener la m\u00e9canique si bien que j\u2019opte rapidement pour le double d\u00e9brayage qui permet de faciliter l’enclenchement du rapport inf\u00e9rieur. Pour\u00a0la mont\u00e9e des rapports, le fait d’embrayer ne rallonge que de quelques millisecondes les changements qui se font dans tous les cas\u00a0bien plus rapidement qu’avec une bo\u00eete traditionnelle. \u00c9tonnamment, c\u2019est finalement la longue course de la p\u00e9dale d\u2019embrayage qui me demandera le plus de temps d\u2019adaptation.<\/p>\n

Vous l\u2019avez compris, nous sommes en pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une voiture de comp\u00e9tition dont l\u2019apprentissage peut prendre un certain temps avant d\u2019en tirer toute la quintessence. Mais cette bombinette est homologu\u00e9 pour la route alors profitons-en. Evidemment l\u2019itin\u00e9raire \u00ab\u00a0B\u00a0\u00bb sera privil\u00e9gi\u00e9\u00a0: celui qui vous tient \u00e9loign\u00e9 des autoroutes et autres grandes routes nationales rectilignes tout en vous offrant un maximum de courbes et virages. En ce qui me concerne, cet itin\u00e9raire passera par le col de Mosses \u00e0 l\u2019aller et le Col du Pillon au retour\u2026<\/p>\n

\nMais avant d\u2019attaquer les premiers tournants, je prends le temps de soigner ma position de conduite. L\u2019exercice sera vite avort\u00e9, car les seuls r\u00e9glages possibles sont la position avant-arri\u00e8re du si\u00e8ge et l\u2019inclinaison du dossier. Il en r\u00e9sulte une position de conduite un peu haute, et peu d\u2019espace au niveau des jambes. Mes longues jambes auraient appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 un r\u00e9glage du volant en profondeur.\u00a0 Les si\u00e8ges baquets Sabelt avec coques en carbone sont de toute beaut\u00e9, mais m\u00e9riteraient un peu plus de maintien lat\u00e9ral. Quant aux harnais, la police cantonale vaudoise me confirme que m\u00eame s\u2019ils sont mont\u00e9s d\u2019origine par le constructeur, leur utilisation est interdite sur route ouverte. Il faudra donc se r\u00e9signer \u00e0 utiliser les traditionnelles ceintures 3 points qui sont \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sentes.<\/p>\n

Moteur ! L’\u00e9chappement \u00e0 valve Akrapovic, pr\u00e9sent de s\u00e9rie, ne donne pas dans la discr\u00e9tion ! D\u00e8s les premiers hectom\u00e8tres, les sensations sont fortes, viriles ! Il faut un minimum de poigne pour maitriser la b\u00eate. Creux jusque vers les 3\u2019000 trs\/min, la puissance arrive ensuite brutalement provoquant une l\u00e9g\u00e8re remont\u00e9e de couple qui impose une ferme pr\u00e9sence au volant, d\u2019autant plus que la direction est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement floue en son point milieu. Les virages et \u00e9pingles s\u2019encha\u00eenent avec une impressionnante motricit\u00e9 qui me ferait presque douter de la monte hivernale de mes pneumatiques ; avec des gommes semi-slick, cette 695 Bisposto doit offrir les sensations extr\u00eames ! Efficacit\u00e9 maximum et confort acceptable m\u00eame si \u00e0 faible vitesse on ressent la moindre asp\u00e9rit\u00e9 de la route, mais il est possible de modifier la duret\u00e9 des suspensions Extreme Shox ainsi que la garde au sol.<\/p>\n

\nUne fois le col des Mosses franchi, la descente sur L\u2019Etivaz est pi\u00e9geuse.\u00a0 Expos\u00e9 au nord, la route est souvent humide et grasse\u2026 mais m\u00eame dans ces conditions l\u2019Abarth 695 Biposto se montre \u00e0 son avantage. Grace au diff\u00e9rentiel \u00e0 glissement limit\u00e9 (qui fait partie du pack optionnel \u00ab\u00a0Innesti Frontali\u00a0\u00bb), la puissance passe bien \u00e0 la route et le sous-virage est inexistant lors des relances. Seuls les plus audacieux regretteront peut-\u00eatre que l\u2019ESP ne soit pas d\u00e9connectable, mais une fois le mode sport activ\u00e9, il n\u2019intervient jamais trop t\u00f4t du moins sur route ouverte.<\/p>\n
