Dans le monde de l\u2019automobile actuel, quelques rares constructeurs de niche qui travaillent et produisent des voitures avec grande passion. A la mani\u00e8re des gaulois dans Ast\u00e9rix, Morgan est l\u2019un de ces derniers \u00e0 construire encore enti\u00e8rement leurs autos \u00e0 la main, avec des m\u00e9thodes traditionnelles et des mat\u00e9riaux devenus rares dans l’automobile tels que le bois. Il n\u2019y a que les anglais pour proposer encore de telles voitures, mais la passion aura-t-elle toujours le dernier mot sur les normes\u00a0?<\/p>\n

Nous nous sommes d\u00e9plac\u00e9s en France, dans la commune de Montceau-les-Mines en Sa\u00f4ne-et-Loire, afin d\u2019assister \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sentation de la nouvelle venue du constructeur de Malvern. C’est au milieu de bon nombre de voitures de la marque, au garage Bobin, que nous avons eu l\u2019honneur de d\u00e9couvrir la nouvelle +6. Pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e initialement cette ann\u00e9e \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve, cette Morgan se d\u00e9cline d\u2019abord dans une version First Edition. Cette \u00e9dition de lancement est disponible uniquement dans deux configurations se d\u00e9nommant Emerald First Edition et Moonstone First Edition. La premi\u00e8re est \u00e9quip\u00e9e d\u2019une teinte ext\u00e9rieure British Racing Green accompagn\u00e9 d\u2019un int\u00e9rieur en cuir de couleur tan. La deuxi\u00e8me, typ\u00e9e plus sportive ,se d\u00e9cline dans une teinte Ice Blue Metallic avec un int\u00e9rieur en cuir bleu.<\/p>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 design, tout y est, on a bien affaire \u00e0 une Morgan. Les phares avant typiques viennent surmonter ces grandes ailes \u00e9lanc\u00e9es. L\u2019arri\u00e8re peut laisser place \u00e0 un porte bagage ou \u00e0 un support pour roue de secours. Niveau gabarit, cette derni\u00e8re est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus grande que les mod\u00e8les pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents. C\u2019est en effet sous le capot que se trouve la chose la plus \u00e9tonnante sur cette nouvelle +6. On y retrouve un moteur connu de tous, puisque qu\u2019il vient de Bavi\u00e8re. C\u2019est le fameux B58B30M1 de chez BMW qui anime l\u2019anglaise, un 6 cylindres en ligne bi-turbo. Moteur que l\u2019on retrouve tout d\u2019abord sur le Z4 M40i mais aussi sur la toute nouvelle Toyota Supra que nous avons eu la chance d\u2019essayer cet \u00e9t\u00e9. Tout comme Toyota, Morgan se fait livrer ces moteurs par le constructeur allemand, accompagn\u00e9s naturellement par la m\u00eame boite automatique ZF 8HP51 \u00e0 8 rapports. Les modes Sport, Sport Plus et Manuel sont bien s\u00fbr disponibles. Et c\u2019est donc pour cela que cette nouvelle Morgan n\u2019est disponible qu\u2019en version automatique, reniant un peu ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 traditionnel du plaisir automobile… Le moteur BMW n\u2019ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 qu\u2019avec une boite automatique, la client\u00e8le n’a d’autre choix que de s\u2019y plier.<\/p>\n

Sachant que ce moteur fournit r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement une puissance sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle annonc\u00e9e, on peut s’attendre \u00e0 de sacr\u00e9es performances, surtout qu\u2019elle est bien moins lourde que ces homologues allemandes et nippones. On compte 1’075 kg sur la balance, ce qui permet d\u2019abattre le 0 \u00e0 100 km\/h en seulement 4,2 secondes ! Et tout cela cheveux aux vents, ce qui risque de d\u00e9coiffer sec. La vitesse de pointe est annonc\u00e9e \u00e0 267 km\/h et la consommation moyenne \u00e0 7,4 l\/100km.
