Bentley c\u00e9l\u00e8bre cette ann\u00e9e ses 100 ans. C\u2019est en 1919 que l\u2019ing\u00e9nieur Anglais W. O. Bentley cr\u00e9e une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 avec pour objectif de construire \u00ab une voiture rapide, une bonne voiture, la meilleure de sa cat\u00e9gorie \u00bb. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1920, les cinq victoires de Bentley aux\u00a024 Heures du Mans<\/a>\u00a0auront une r\u00e9sonance mondiale. Mais lors de la crise \u00e9conomique des ann\u00e9es 30, Bentley est absorb\u00e9e par Rolls-Royce \u00e0 l\u2019ombre duquel elle v\u00e9g\u00e9tera durant 70 ans.<\/p>\n

Il faudra attende le d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000 et le rachat par Volkswagen pour voir Bentley retrouver son \u00ab\u00a0fighting spirit\u00a0\u00bb. Si le constructeur de voitures de luxe britannique a aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 nouveau le vent en poupe, c\u2019est essentiellement gr\u00e2ce au succ\u00e8s commercial de la Continental GT. Apr\u00e8s l\u2019essai du coup\u00e9 l\u2019ann\u00e9e pass\u00e9e<\/a>, nous avons pris le volant de la Continental GT de troisi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration dans sa version cabriolet.<\/p>\n

Imagin\u00e9e, con\u00e7ue et assembl\u00e9e en Grande-Bretagne dans les usines Bentley de Crewe, la nouvelle Continental GTC \u2013 C pour \u00ab convertible \u00bb, cabriolet en fran\u00e7ais – \u00a0ne perd pas une once de l\u2019opulence, de l\u2019agressivit\u00e9 et de l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9gance de ses a\u00een\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Avec ses 4,85 m\u00e8tres, elle est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus longue que l\u2019ancienne g\u00e9n\u00e9ration<\/a>. L\u2019empattement est amplifi\u00e9, ce qui am\u00e9liore consid\u00e9rablement les proportions avec un positionnement des roues plus proche des extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s du v\u00e9hicule. Le capot avant se retrouvant ainsi rallong\u00e9. Si l\u2019ensemble conserve les lignes embl\u00e9matiques du coup\u00e9, ses hanches muscl\u00e9es sont d\u00e9sormais plus fusel\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Comme le veut la tradition, la version cabriolet de la Continental GT se dote d’une capote en toile. Mais que cette derni\u00e8re soit baiss\u00e9e ou relev\u00e9e, nous sommes toujours en pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une voiture d\u2019une beaut\u00e9 incontestable.<\/p>\n

La Continental\u00a0GT\u00a0Convertible est \u00e9quip\u00e9e de phares LED qui se d\u00e9marquent par leur design \u00e9voquant une pierre pr\u00e9cieuse illumin\u00e9e. Un effet cristal taill\u00e9 du plus bel effet que l\u2019on retrouve \u00e9galement sur les feux arri\u00e8re de forme oblongue.<\/p>\n

Mais avant cela, je vous conseille de patienter encore 19 secondes, juste le temps n\u00e9cessaire pour ouvrir la capote. Vous aurez ainsi une meilleure audition du chant du W12 qui s\u2019\u00e9veille. Le s\u00e9lecteur de mode de conduite (Bentley Driving Dynamics) offre quatre modes de conduite : Confort, Bentley, Sport et Individuel. Apr\u00e8s quelques kilom\u00e8tres, cheveux dans le vent, \u00e0 appr\u00e9cier le confort et le raffinement exceptionnel de cette GT, je s\u00e9lectionne le mode sport et j\u2019\u00e9crase la p\u00e9dale de droite pour entrer dans un autre monde. Les 12 cylindres se mettent \u00e0 rugir et, de mon c\u00f4t\u00e9, je souris \u00e0 chaque acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration, j\u2019adore ! Si le confort reste inconditionnel, son comportement sportif ne l\u2019est pas moins. Il faut dire que, tout comme sa bo\u00eete, son ch\u00e2ssis est d\u00e9sormais emprunt\u00e9 \u00e0 sa cousine germanique, la Porsche Panamera<\/a>. Grace \u00e0 sa transmission int\u00e9grale, aux amortisseurs pilot\u00e9s et aux suspensions pneumatiques, il est difficile de prendre la b\u00eate en d\u00e9faut, surtout que l\u2019\u00e9lectronique veille. Difficile et surtout inutile, car il n\u2019est nullement n\u00e9cessaire de la pousser dans ses derniers retranchements pour \u00e9prouver du plaisir \u00e0 son volant. D\u2019autant plus que la boite \u00e0 double embrayage se montre l\u00e9g\u00e8rement moins v\u00e9loce que sur une Panamera.<\/p>\n

Le seul petit b\u00e9mol \u00e0 relever est un persistant bruit d\u2019air une fois la capote ferm\u00e9e, m\u00eame \u00e0 vitesse mod\u00e9r\u00e9e. Je l\u2019ai signal\u00e9 lors de la reddition du v\u00e9hicule, et on m\u2019a affirm\u00e9 que c\u2019\u00e9tait un probl\u00e8me connu qui faisait l\u2019objet d\u2019un rappel.
