Regardons ce bloc moteur de plus pr\u00e8s. Avec 240 chevaux pour 500 Nm de couple, ce bi-turbo TDI de 2.0 litres ravira les amateurs d\u00e9sireux de tracter des charges via le crochet d’attelage amovible \u00e9quipant notre voiture d’essai. Par ailleurs, il est aussi le moteur diesel le plus puissant de l\u2019histoire du constructeur de Mlad\u00e1 Boleslav. Cette puissance est dirig\u00e9e sur les 4 roues via \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me de transmission int\u00e9grale et une bo\u00eete automatique DSG. De quoi d\u00e9placer les 2 tonnes du Kodiaq RS de 0 \u00e0 100 km\/h en 7 secondes et d\u2019atteindre les 220 km\/h. Je vous l\u2019accorde, \u00e0 ce stade, \u00e7a ne vend pas vraiment du r\u00eave. Mais contemplons la b\u00eate avant de d\u00e9couvrir ce qu\u2019elle vaut vraiment sur la route.<\/p>\n

A l\u2019image de l\u2019ours d\u2019Alaska dont il emprunte le nom, le Kodiaq RS est imposant. Quelques artifices ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s pour lui conf\u00e9rer une allure sportive. Sur notre mod\u00e8le d\u2019essai, je note les inserts en noir laqu\u00e9, les fameux logo RS et quelques fausses ou\u00efes d\u2019a\u00e9ration. Pour donner de l\u2019attrait au v\u00e9hicule, Skoda a opt\u00e9 pour de belles jantes de 20 pouces laissant apparaitre de gros \u00e9triers de freins rouge. \u00c0 l’arri\u00e8re, on trouve deux larges sorties d’\u00e9chappement chrom\u00e9es, dont l\u2019une est fictive\u2026 Mise \u00e0 part la couleur \u00ab\u00a0Bleu Race\u00a0m\u00e9tallis\u00e9e \u00bb qui sied si bien aux mod\u00e8les RS, l\u2019ensemble est finalement assez sobre et de bon go\u00fbt.<\/p>\n

L\u2019int\u00e9rieur du Kodiaq RS n\u2019a pas grand-chose \u00e0 envier \u00e0 ses prestigieux concurrents Allemands, tant au niveau des mat\u00e9riaux que de l\u2019assemblage. Les si\u00e8ges baquets, rev\u00eatus d’Alcantara et de cuir, sont bord\u00e9s de surpiq\u00fbres rouges. On retrouve \u00e9galement ces coutures couleurs rubis sur le volant et les portes. M\u00eame si les plastiques imitation carbone pourront para\u00eetre un peu \u00ab cheap \u00bb aux yeux de certains, je trouve que l\u2019habitacle est de tr\u00e8s bonne facture et d\u00e9gage une belle impression de sportivit\u00e9. L\u2019info-divertissement et la connectivit\u00e9\u0301 sont \u00e0 la pointe de la technologie et personnalisables \u00e0 souhait.<\/p>\n

Le Skoda Kodiaq RS est \u00e9quip\u00e9e de s\u00e9rie de cinq places mais, comme sur notre mod\u00e8le d\u2019essai, une troisi\u00e8me rang\u00e9e de si\u00e8ges est disponible en option (CHF 840.-). Dans ce cas, lorsque tous les si\u00e8ges sont occup\u00e9s, le volume du coffre est de 230 litres. Il passe \u00e0 715 litres lorsque les si\u00e8ges de la troisi\u00e8me rang\u00e9e sont rabattus et \u00e0 1’950 litres lorsque les si\u00e8ges des deuxi\u00e8mes et troisi\u00e8mes rang\u00e9es sont rabattus.<\/p>\n

J\u2019ai trouv\u00e9 tr\u00e8s plaisantes les petites attentions de Skoda comme le parapluie ins\u00e9r\u00e9 dans le panneau de porte, la petite lampe baladeuse dans le coffre ou encore le grattoir \u00e0 givre habilement dissimul\u00e9 derri\u00e8re la trappe \u00e0 carburant.<\/p>\n

Le Kodiaq RS offre plusieurs modes de conduite qui influencent significativement son comportement. J\u2019avoue que je n\u2019ai pas eu l\u2019occasion de tester ni le mode \u00ab\u00a0neige\u00a0\u00bb, ni le mode \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9co\u00bb. Sur les grandes routes et autoroutes, le mode \u00ab\u00a0Confort\u00a0\u00bb m\u2019a permis d\u2019appr\u00e9cier un SUV confortable, absorbant les asp\u00e9rit\u00e9s de la route de fa\u00e7on optimale et m\u2019offrant la puissance n\u00e9cessaire lorsque le besoin s\u2019est fait sentir. La Kodiaq RS s\u2019illustre comme une parfaite familiale. Mais souvenez-vous, la question est de savoir si le Kodiaq est digne du label RS. C\u2019est donc le mode \u00ab\u00a0sport\u00a0\u00bb qui sera largement privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 pour cet essai.<\/p>\n

Et l\u00e0 surprise ! le 4 cylindre mazout fredonne comme un gros V6 ! En effet, le Kodiaq RS est \u00e9quip\u00e9 du \u00ab Dynamic Sound Booster \u00bb, un haut-parleur quoi ! C\u2019est totalement artificiel, mais le r\u00e9sultat est plut\u00f4t bluffant, qu\u2019on se trouve \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur ou l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur de l\u2019habitacle. Cela me motive \u00e0 hausser le rythme, d\u2019autant plus que la route commence \u00e0 se faire plus sinueuse. La bo\u00eete automatique DSG 7 est, comme de coutume, douce et pr\u00e9cise mais ne verrouille pas les rapports, m\u00eame en position manuel. En mode sport, les suspensions pilot\u00e9es permettent de r\u00e9duire sensiblement le roulis et les mouvements de caisse. Les reprises sont bien aid\u00e9es par l\u2019impressionnant couple de 500 Nm, mais il faut cependant reconna\u00eetre que \u00e7a reste lourdaud et que \u00e7a manque un peu de vigueur. Attention de ne pas se laisser entra\u00eener par la masse dans les encha\u00eenements rapides.<\/p>\n

Heureusement, sa transmission int\u00e9grale maintient une traction optimale tout en augmentant la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 par mauvais temps. La direction de type progressive est pr\u00e9cise et les freins \u00e9tonnamment endurants.<\/p>\n
