Le Salon de Gen\u00e8ve et le N\u00fcrburging sont deux endroits tr\u00e8s importants pour Aston Martin. Le premier a \u00e9t\u00e9 le th\u00e9\u00e2tre de plusieurs premi\u00e8res mondiales<\/a> au cours de ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es alors que le second abrite le si\u00e8ge de l\u2019AMR Performance Centre, une des principales bases de d\u00e9veloppement de la marque de Gaydon. Le service de presse d\u2019Aston Martin Europe nous a propos\u00e9 de relier ces deux endroits en effectuant un road trip<\/em> de trois jours \u00e0 bord de cinq mod\u00e8les. La premi\u00e8re immersion a pour cadre l\u2019espace VIP d\u2019Aston Martin au Salon de Gen\u00e8ve. Les locaux sont \u00e0 la fois luxueux et \u00e9l\u00e9gants. Leurs parois comportent de nombreuses photos d\u2019anciens mod\u00e8les qui ont forg\u00e9 la r\u00e9putation sportive de la marque. C\u2019est le cas notamment de la DBR1 de 1959. C\u2019est ce mod\u00e8le qui a permis \u00e0 Aston Martin de signer cette ann\u00e9e-l\u00e0 un retentissant doubl\u00e9 aux 24 Heures du Mans en s\u2019imposant devant quatre Ferrari. C\u2019est \u00e9galement une DBR1 qui, deux semaines auparavant, avait remport\u00e9 les 1000 km du N\u00fcrburgring pour la troisi\u00e8me fois cons\u00e9cutive. Et c\u2019est justement au N\u00fcrburgring que nous allons nous rendre en nous \u00e9lan\u00e7ant depuis Gen\u00e8ve.<\/p>\n

Parfaitement align\u00e9es devant le ch\u00e2teau de Voltaire \u2013 \u00e0 quelques kilom\u00e8tres de Gen\u00e8ve, dix Aston Martin attendent vingt journalistes europ\u00e9ens. L\u2019attribution des voitures s\u2019effectue par tirage au sort. Avec mon confr\u00e8re italien Matteo di Lallo, avec qui je ferai \u00e9quipe trois jours durant, nous h\u00e9ritons d\u2019une magnifique DB11 V8 couleur aubergine qui d\u00e9veloppe 510 ch pour un poids total de 1\u2019760 kg. C\u2019est une premi\u00e8re excellente surprise.<\/p>\n

La seconde surprise, excellente elle aussi, c\u2019est que nous ne devons pas rouler en convoi. Nous pouvons ainsi rouler \u00e0 un rythme soutenu et nous arr\u00eater pour des pauses photos o\u00f9 bon nous semble. Celles-ci seront cependant limit\u00e9es \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 que l\u2019on nous attend \u00e0 une heure bien pr\u00e9cise au Ch\u00e2teau de Germigney, un \u00e9tablissement membre des Relais & Ch\u00e2teaux qui se trouve non loin d\u2019Arbois, dans le Jura fran\u00e7ais.<\/p>\n

Une autre bonne surprise est le choix de l\u2019itin\u00e9raire retenu pour cette premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape. Celle-ci a notamment emprunt\u00e9 le col de la Faucille qui avait accueilli deux \u00e9preuves du championnat d\u2019Europe de la montagne en 1961 et en 1962. Le trac\u00e9 de cette course de c\u00f4te de plus de 10 km s\u2019av\u00e8re id\u00e9al pour mettre en avant les principales qualit\u00e9s de la DB11 V8, \u00e0 savoir une excellente r\u00e9partition des masses (49% \u00e0 l\u2019avant et 51% \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re) et une non moins excellente tenue de route. Le m\u00e9rite en revient \u00e0 l\u2019empattement qui est relativement long. Il garantit de ce fait une tenue de cap sans reproche et un faible transfert de charge entre les roues. Le tout accompagn\u00e9 par la symphonie d\u2019un moteur 8 cylindres qui s\u2019exprime pleinement dans le mode Sport+. Celui-ci est le plus sonore des trois modes disponibles. Il nous avait d\u2019ailleurs d\u00e9j\u00e0 envo\u00fbt\u00e9s lors de notre essai complet de la DB11 V8 en mai 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tout au long de la mont\u00e9e du col de Faucille, on rel\u00e8vera que nous n\u2019avons jamais eu l\u2019impression de conduire une voiture de 1\u2019760 kg. La pouss\u00e9e du moteur 4.0L bi-turbo de 510 ch est en effet telle que l\u2019on oublie tr\u00e8s vite le poids de la voiture. Apr\u00e8s avoir escalad\u00e9 le massif jurassien \u00e0 vive allure, le reste du parcours s\u2019av\u00e8re plus tranquille. Nous en profitons pour quitter le mode Sport+ et rouler tant\u00f4t en mode GT (le mode de base), tant\u00f4t en mode Sport, qui offre un bon compromis entre le mode Sport+ et le mode GT. Nous essayons \u00e9galement les trois niveaux d\u2019amortissements propos\u00e9s en fonction de l\u2019allure adopt\u00e9e ou de l\u2019\u00e9tat de la chauss\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Le lendemain matin, c\u2019est une vieille connaissance qui nous est attribu\u00e9e, en l\u2019occurrence l\u2019Aston Martin Vantage immatricul\u00e9e KVI8 BOF que nous avons essay\u00e9e en d\u00e9but d\u2019ann\u00e9e<\/a> ! La pr\u00e9sence de la pluie et un itin\u00e9raire compos\u00e9 essentiellement d\u2019autoroutes \u00e0 vitesses limit\u00e9es, aussi bien en France qu\u2019en Allemagne, ne nous a pas vraiment permis d\u2019attaquer et de profiter du caract\u00e8re beaucoup plus sportif de la Vantage par rapport \u00e0 la DB11 V8.<\/p>\n

Si les deux voitures partagent le m\u00eame propulseur \u2013 il s\u2019agit en fait d\u2019une motorisation d\u2019origine AMG, la Vantage s\u2019av\u00e8re nettement plus agile. Elle est en effet plus courte de 28 cm et affiche 230 kg de moins sur la balance. Qu\u2019\u00e0 cela ne tienne, le trajet entre le Ch\u00e2teau de Germigney, Mulhouse et la ville allemande de Fribourg en Briesgau nous a au moins permis de constater que la Vantage pouvait \u00e9galement \u00eatre une routi\u00e8re capable d\u2019avaler les kilom\u00e8tres d\u2019autoroute sans fatiguer ses occupants.<\/p>\n

Le soleil qui daigne finalement appara\u00eetre apr\u00e8s la pause de midi s\u2019av\u00e8re id\u00e9al pour la voiture qui nous est confi\u00e9e \u00e0 cette occasion. Il s\u2019agit en effet de la version d\u00e9capotable de la DB11 V8, une version qui r\u00e9pond \u00e0 l\u2019appellation Volante chez Aston Martin.<\/p>\n

Avant de d\u00e9capoter, nous profitons toutefois d\u2019une vingtaine de kilom\u00e8tres d\u2019autoroute allemande \u00e0 vitesse illimit\u00e9e afin de \u00abcruiser\u00bb \u00e0 plus de 250 km\/h, une vitesse que la DB11 Volante atteint en moins de temps qu\u2019il ne faut pour l\u2019\u00e9crire ! Et m\u00eame \u00e0 de telles vitesses, aucun bruit parasite ne vient perturber nos conversations. Chapeau ! Les artisans d\u2019Aston Martin ont v\u00e9ritablement effectu\u00e9 un travail remarquable. Le toit souple \u00e0 commande \u00e9lectrique est par exemple compos\u00e9 de huit couches, ce qui garantit non seulement une excellente insonorisation mais \u00e9galement une protection remarquable contre les intemp\u00e9ries.<\/p>\n

Le retour sur sol fran\u00e7ais, avec ses routes d\u00e9partementales d\u00e9sormais limit\u00e9es \u00e0 80 km\/h, s\u2019av\u00e8re id\u00e9al pour enlever le haut de \u00abnotre\u00bb DB11 Volante. Le toit s\u2019ouvre compl\u00e8tement en 14 secondes et cela jusqu\u2019\u00e0 une vitesse de 50 km\/h.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s une bonne nuit de sommeil, nous h\u00e9ritons le lendemain d\u2019une Vantage dans une magnifique livr\u00e9e lime green, la couleur embl\u00e9matique des Aston Martin qui disputent le championnat du monde d\u2019endurance. La pluie est cependant \u00e0 nouveau de la partie en d\u00e9but de parcours. Heureusement, elle dispara\u00eet ccomme par enchantement au fur et \u00e0 mesure que nous nous approchons du N\u00fcrburgring. Cela nous permet de constater que la Vantage est une v\u00e9ritable sportive qui n\u2019a rien \u00e0 envier aux nouvelles Porsche 911 Carrera. Bien au contraire !<\/p>\n

Ceux-ci incluent le contr\u00f4le de stabilit\u00e9 dynamique et la vectorisation dynamique du couple. La direction assist\u00e9e \u00e9lectrique allie quant \u00e0 elle r\u00e9activit\u00e9 et pr\u00e9cision, alors que le diff\u00e9rentiel \u00e0 glissement limit\u00e9 \u00e0 commande \u00e9lectronique est li\u00e9 au syst\u00e8me de contr\u00f4le de la stabilit\u00e9. Notre road trip se termine en apoth\u00e9ose avec l\u2019essai de la DBS Superleggera qui nous est remise \u00e0 l\u2019AMR Performance Centre du N\u00fcrburgring. Dans sa robe de couleur Hyper Red, elle est tout simplement magnifique. Une beaut\u00e9 qui va de pair avec des acc\u00e9l\u00e9rations ahurissantes. Avec son moteur V12 bi-turbo de 5.2L qui d\u00e9veloppe 725 ch, elle abat en effet le 0 \u00e0 100 km\/h en \u00e0 peine 3,5 secondes. Sur une autoroute allemande, \u00e0 une demi-heure du N\u00fcrburgring, il ne nous a fallu que d\u2019un peu plus de 6 secondes pour passer de 0 \u00e0 160 km\/h en mode Track. Un mode Track o\u00f9 le V12 hurle si fort qu\u2019il pourrait r\u00e9veiller un mort !<\/p>\n
