A l\u2019origine, cela d\u00e9signait les versions hautes performances de certains mod\u00e8les de la marque Aston Martin, fond\u00e9e il y a plus de 100 ans. Ce n’est que dans les ann\u00e9es 70 que le badge Vantage est devenu un mod\u00e8le \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re. Depuis lors, l\u2019Aston Martin Vantage est devenue le mod\u00e8le phare de l\u2019artisan britannique.<\/p>\n

Pour la nouvelle Vantage, toujours assembl\u00e9e \u00e0 la main \u00e0 Gaydon dans le Warwickshire, Aston Martin a fait l\u2019audacieux pari de rompre compl\u00e8tement avec les anciennes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations. Totalement redessin\u00e9e, plus agressive et plus affut\u00e9e, la nouvelle Vantage promet d\u2019offrir des sensations comme aucune autre Vantage ne l\u2019a fait auparavant.<\/p>\n

Personnellement, je fais partie des inconditionnels de l\u2019esth\u00e9tique de l\u2019ancienne g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de Vantage. Je dois donc avouer qu\u2019au dernier salon de l\u2019auto de Gen\u00e8ve, lorsque mon regard s\u2019est pos\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois sur l\u2019\u0153uvre de Sam Holgate, le jeune designer maison, je n\u2019ai pas \u00e9t\u00e9 totalement enthousiasm\u00e9. J\u2019avais l\u2019impression d\u2019avoir perdu un rep\u00e8re. Logique puisque la derni\u00e8re Vantage est rest\u00e9e commercialis\u00e9e pendant plus de 12 ans, de quoi l\u2019ancrer solidement dans les esprits.<\/p>\n

Conscient de ce fait, c\u2019est avec un regard neuf que je d\u00e9couvre la Vantage qui va m\u2019accompagner pour quelques jours d\u2019essai. La jeunette, par\u00e9e de sa sublime robe rouge \u00ab\u00a0Hyper Red\u00a0\u00bb (CHF 5’689.-), n\u2019a aucun mal \u00e0 me s\u00e9duire. Homme faible, je suis instantan\u00e9ment sous le charme, totalement hypnotis\u00e9. Les nouveaux codes esth\u00e9tiques procurent une expression plus agressive. La face avant aborde des optiques en amande et la calandre b\u00e9ante semblant vouloir d\u00e9vorer le bitume. Les flans sont tr\u00e8s travaill\u00e9s a\u00e9rodynamiquement avec des prises d\u2019airs coniques au niveau des ailes avant. J\u2019ai un faible pour sa poupe, avec son petit becquet et ses feux arri\u00e8re filiformes qui tranchent avec l\u2019imposant diffuseur et les deux doubles sorties d’\u00e9chappement lat\u00e9rales. M\u00eame si la carrosserie est enti\u00e8rement revue, on reconnait au premier coup d\u2019\u0153il qu\u2019on a bien \u00e0 faire \u00e0 une Aston Martin.<\/p>\n

Sous ces trais r\u00e9solument sportifs se cache une architecture en aluminium coll\u00e9 d\u00e9riv\u00e9e de la DB11 V8 que nous avons essay\u00e9e au printemps 2018<\/a>. Stricte deux places, elle est plus courte de 28cm que sa grande s\u0153ur. Elle reprend \u00e9galement sa boite automatique ZF \u00e0 huit rapports et le moteur V8 4.0L bi-turbo de 510ch d\u2019origine Mercedes-AMG. L\u2019habitacle n\u2019\u00e9chappe pas au renouveau. Fini les magnifiques cadrans analogiques, place aux lumineux mais quelque peu banals compteurs num\u00e9riques. R\u00e9solument sportif sans pour autant renier ce qui a fait le succ\u00e8s de la marque depuis des d\u00e9cennies\u00a0: l’\u00e9l\u00e9gance \u00ab\u00a0so Britisch\u00a0\u00bb d\u2019une voiture de sport de hautes performances. Le cuir, l\u2019alcantara et le carbone distillent une sensation de \u00ab cockpit \u00bb o\u00f9 les commandes principales sont parfaitement positionn\u00e9es. Je me sens d\u00e9finitivement plus dans une super sportive que dans une GT. Une petite touche germanique fait son apparition avec l\u2019\u00e9cran de 8 pouces et le syst\u00e8me “Command” pilot\u00e9 par un pad situ\u00e9 entre les si\u00e8ges, h\u00e9rit\u00e9 du partenariat avec Mercedes-Benz.<\/p>\n

A mon gout, la seule ombre au tableau est le choix de la couleur marron pour l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de ma voiture d\u2019essai. Lors de sa r\u00e9ception \u00e0 la concession Aston-Martin Geneva, j\u2019ai pu admirer les cuirs noirs sur d\u2019autres mod\u00e8les d\u2019exposition. Ils auraient assur\u00e9ment fait merveille avec la teinte ext\u00e9rieure rouge. Les gouts et les couleurs\u00a0!<\/p>\n

Je pensais sinc\u00e8rement que rien ne pourait me faire bouder le plaisir de prendre le volant de cette Aston Martin Vantage. C\u2019\u00e9tait sans compter sur Gabriel\u00a0! Vous vous souvenez, cette forte temp\u00eate hivernale qui a paralys\u00e9 l\u2019hexagone avant d\u2019atteindre nos contr\u00e9es\u2026 pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment le lendemain de la r\u00e9ception de ma voiture d\u2019essai\u00a0! Alors autant vous l\u2019annoncer tout de suite, je ne pourrais pas exposer mon ressenti sur routes s\u00e8ches, je n\u2019en ai point rencontr\u00e9es. Mais je serais bien hypocrite d\u2019affirmer que je n\u2019ai pas pris de plaisir pour autant, m\u00eame dans ces conditions.<\/p>\n

C\u2019est donc dans un d\u00e9cor enneig\u00e9 que je d\u00e9pose mon mat\u00e9riel photo dans le vaste coffre de 350 litres, et ma doudoune dans le compartiment situ\u00e9 derri\u00e8re les si\u00e8ges. Je constate avec soulagement que les Pirelli P Zero de 20 pouces con\u00e7us sur-mesure pour Aston Martin ont c\u00e9d\u00e9 leur place \u00e0 des Sottozero hivernaux. Une fois install\u00e9 derri\u00e8re le grand volant \u00e0 m\u00e9plat, premi\u00e8re surprise : l\u2019espace est finalement plus vaste qu\u2019il n\u2019y para\u00eet de l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur. Une fois le si\u00e8ge bien ajust\u00e9, mes 198 cm sont confortablement install\u00e9s pour en d\u00e9coudre avec les \u00e9l\u00e9ments. Une pression sur le bouton \u00ab Engine Start \u00bb qui pour l\u2019occasion se pare de rouge et le V8 vrombit. Une partition jou\u00e9e toute en nuances mais qui se trouve sublim\u00e9e dans les modes Sport + et Track. Mais je me garde bien de s\u00e9lectionner ces modes de conduite pour l\u2019instant pr\u00e9f\u00e9rant dompter, dans un premier temps, les 510 chevaux avec toutes les aides disponibles.<\/p>\n

Alors que je roule en direction du Chablais, le ciel semble me faire une derni\u00e8re faveur avant l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de Gabriel. Je d\u00e9cide de profiter de l\u2019occasion pour aller faire quelques clich\u00e9s sur les hauts des Paccots. Les premi\u00e8res enfilades sur route mouill\u00e9e me permettent une premi\u00e8re analyse. Grace \u00e0 un positionnement en retrait du moteur, une r\u00e9partition des masses avant\/arri\u00e8re de 50\/50 a \u00e9t\u00e9 obtenue. Et \u00e7a se remarque derri\u00e8re le volant. La Vantage semble tourner sur son axe dans un \u00e9quilibre surprenant. La direction envoie de bonnes informations et son fameux diff\u00e9rentiel \u00e0 glissement limit\u00e9 g\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e9lectroniquement fait le travail m\u2019offrant une motricit\u00e9 correcte malgr\u00e9 les conditions. Cela me pousse \u00e0 appuyer sur les boutons situ\u00e9s sur le volant, le gauche pour rigidifier les suspensions et le droit pour basculer en mode Sport+ et m\u00eame Track \u00e0 mesure que la neige commence recouvrir la chauss\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Bien s\u00fbr, l\u2019Aston Martin Vantage reste une propulsion avec des pneus tr\u00e8s larges. Toutefois, avec une bonne monte pneumatique, et des modes de conduite permissifs, il y a de quoi prendre un plaisir fou. Sans \u00eatre t\u00e9m\u00e9raire, vous aurez la possibilit\u00e9 de profiter de votre Aston Martin quasiment 365 jours par ann\u00e9es. La route s\u2019est r\u00e9tr\u00e9cie et est maintenant enti\u00e8rement recouverte de neige tass\u00e9e. J\u2019essaie de d\u00e9sactiver au maximum les aides, le train arri\u00e8re se d\u00e9hanche et la d\u00e9rive se maitrise tant bien que mal du pied droit, quel bonheur ! Mais aux regards des rares badauds, \u00e7a ne fait pas tr\u00e8s s\u00e9rieux. Croiser sur cette \u00e9troite route de montage n\u2019est pas chose ais\u00e9e et je r\u00e9alise \u00e0 quel point la Vantage occupe l\u2019espace. Et ce n\u2019est pas un effet d\u2019optique. Apr\u00e8s v\u00e9rification, sa largeur affiche 1’942 mm, soit 9 cm de plus qu\u2019une Porsche 911 ! Le retour en plaine se fait tr\u00e8s prudemment \u00e0 la tomb\u00e9e de la nuit. N\u2019ayant aucune envie de rester bloqu\u00e9 sur un banc de neige, je renonce \u00e0 tester l\u2019endurance des freins.<\/p>\n
