Innovante et moderne, elle entend bien devenir la nouvelle berline fran\u00e7aise de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence. Nous avons pris le volant du fleuron actuel de la gamme, \u00e0 savoir la version GT forte de 225 chevaux. Cela vous para\u00eet-il trop peu\u00a0? La marque au lion est partie d\u2019une feuille blanche pour concevoir la nouvelle Peugeot 508. Sa plastique ext\u00e9rieure ne manque pas de caract\u00e8re, avec une face avant aux reliefs prononc\u00e9s arborant deux canines comme signature lumineuse. Au premier regard, l\u2019effet est garanti et ne laisse pas insensible face \u00e0 ce regard de f\u00e9lin\u00a0! Le plus troublant, c\u2019est que l\u2019impression qui s\u2019en d\u00e9gage d\u00e9pend de l\u2019angle sous lequel on la regarde. Tant\u00f4t \u00e9l\u00e9gante et classique, tant\u00f4t agressive\u00a0et moderne !<\/p>\n

A l\u2019arri\u00e8re, le principal trait de caract\u00e8re r\u00e9side dans son bandeau fum\u00e9 abritant les feux \u00e0 LED dont le balayage \u00e0 la K2000 lors du d\u00e9verrouillage am\u00e8ne un c\u00f4t\u00e9 futuriste. Mais en comparaison avec l\u2019avant, l\u2019arri\u00e8re est assez conventionnel et manque quelque peu d\u2019expression.<\/p>\n

Le d\u00e9tail qui apporte classe et l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 lorsque l\u2019on p\u00e9n\u00e8tre dans la Peugeot 508, c\u2019est bien s\u00fbr les portes sans montants\u00a0! Si on les avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 vues sur la Maserati Levante S<\/a>, il faut avouer qu\u2019en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral elles sont r\u00e9serv\u00e9es aux coup\u00e9s et autres GT.<\/p>\n

A l’int\u00e9rieur, on retrouve cette instrumentation plac\u00e9e au-dessus du volant qui restera \u00e9ternellement conflictuelle pour certains. Pour moi et mes 195 cm, ce n’est pas un souci, je vois parfaitement les compteurs sans avoir le petit volant pos\u00e9 sur mes jambes. En revanche, ma t\u00eate est plaqu\u00e9e contre le ciel de toit. Le toit ouvrant panoramique (CHF 1’450.-) ne convient donc pas pour les conducteurs de plus de 190 cm, \u00e0 moins de conduire avec le dossier tr\u00e8s inclin\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Les finitions et les mat\u00e9riaux employ\u00e9s sont de tr\u00e8s bonne facture, en ad\u00e9quation avec le positionnement premium de la Peugeot 508 GT. L’agencement est innovant et audacieux avec ce bel \u00e9cran central inclin\u00e9 surplombant des touches de commande horizontales rappelant un clavier de piano. Beau et facile d’emploi. Rien \u00e0 dire non plus sur la lisibilit\u00e9 des compteurs num\u00e9riques et les modes d’affichage propos\u00e9s, m\u00eame si la chor\u00e9graphie lors d’un passage \u00e0 l’autre peut s’av\u00e9rer lassante.<\/p>\n

Dommage qu’\u00e0 l’usage quelques d\u00e9fauts de jeunesse viennent ternir le tableau. Je citerai notamment des essuie-glaces automatiques incoh\u00e9rents et non r\u00e9glables en sensibilit\u00e9, une absence d’\u00e9galisation du volume des stations radio, un \u00e9cran tactile qui n’est pas assez sensible ainsi qu’un acc\u00e8s sans cl\u00e9 tant\u00f4t lunatique obligeant \u00e0 sortir la t\u00e9l\u00e9commande pour la d\u00e9verrouiller. Autre d\u00e9tail irritant : pourquoi lors de l’appui sur le bouton Stop, la voiture coupe-t-elle aussi le contact et la radio ? L’extinction compl\u00e8te devrait avoir lieu lorsqu’on ouvre la porte pour quitter le v\u00e9hicule\u00a0!<\/p>\n

La Peugeot 508 GT nous propose 5 modes de conduite : Eco, Confort, Normal, Sport et Manuel. Tout un programme ! Prenons la route et voyons comment cette berline \u00e0 hayon fait corps avec des conditions particuli\u00e8rement hivernales.<\/p>\n

Les si\u00e8ges sont moelleux et l\u2019insonorisation excellente, mais rapidement, je constate que les changements de rapport se font \u00e0 des r\u00e9gimes relativement \u00e9lev\u00e9s m\u00eame en gardant le pied l\u00e9ger. A vitesse constante, le r\u00e9gime est maintenu aux alentours des 2\u2019000 trs\/min. Cela s\u2019am\u00e9liore en mode Eco, mais une mont\u00e9e l\u00e9g\u00e8re se manifestera encore souvent par un r\u00e9trogradage intempestif. M\u00eame si en pratique, nous n\u2019avons pas \u00e0 nous soucier des changements de rapport, je trouve cela d\u00e9sagr\u00e9able pour une berline de ce rang cens\u00e9e pouvoir \u00e9voluer sur le couple et en douceur.<\/p>\n

Alors, o\u00f9 est le probl\u00e8me ? Le moteur 4 cylindres 1.6L PureTech d\u00e9veloppant 225 chevaux et 300 Nm de couple est-il \u00e0 la peine, alors que la 508 GT ne p\u00e8se que 1\u2019420 kg ? Le mode de conduite Manuel va m\u2019\u00eatre salutaire pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 cette question. Apr\u00e8s quelques centaines de m\u00e8tres, la r\u00e9ponse est claire : le moteur est souple et ne rechigne pas \u00e0 \u00eatre sollicit\u00e9 entre 1’500 et 2\u2019000 trs\/min, ce sans \u00eatre \u00e0 la tra\u00eene. Alors pourquoi la bo\u00eete s\u2019obstine-t-elle \u00e0 privil\u00e9gier des plages de r\u00e9gimes plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es ? Le rendement serait-il \u00e0 tel point meilleur que la consommation serait inf\u00e9rieure ?<\/p>\n

Que nenni ! Sur mon trajet \u00e9talon comportant 19 km de routes nationales vallonn\u00e9es entrecoup\u00e9es de quelques villages, je n\u2019ai consomm\u00e9 que 6.9 l\/100km en changeant moi-m\u00eame les rapports, alors qu\u2019il aura fallu 7.3 l\/100km en mode Eco en acc\u00e9l\u00e9rant de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re. Il est donc difficile de comprendre le choix de Peugeot dans sa gestion de bo\u00eete. La seule raison justifi\u00e9e \u00e9ventuelle est qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de fiabiliser les organes m\u00e9caniques sur le long terme, mais en pratique le r\u00e9sultat est une conduite automatique qui manque de douceur et qui ne produit pas la consommation la plus basse possible, ce malgr\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence du coasting (roues libres) en mode Eco.<\/p>\n

Durant mes deux semaines d’essai, je ne rencontrerai aucun rev\u00eatement sec, il sera donc impossible d’\u00e9valuer pleinement le potentiel dynamique de l’auto. Mais le compromis sur l’amortissement semble excellent, car l’accent sur le confort ne nuit pas \u00e0 l’agilit\u00e9 de la 508 qui se m\u00e8ne avec un certain plaisir d\u00e8s que \u00e7a tourne. Le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre touch\u00e9 de route Peugeot semble bien de la partie\u00a0!<\/p>\n

Le passage en mode Sport est par contre assez d\u00e9cevant : les suspensions ne se montrent pas significativement plus dures et le timbre certes sympathique du 1.6L PureTech manque toujours de voix. Autre incoh\u00e9rence, il est impossible de garder la main sur les changements de rapport dans ce mode ! Pour se servir uniquement des palettes, il faut passer en mode Manuel mais dans celui-ci la direction n\u2019est pas aussi ferme qu\u2019en mode Sport… L’ESP n’est pas d\u00e9sactivable et l’anti-patinage se r\u00e9active automatiquement d\u00e8s 50 km\/h.<\/p>\n

Le sigle GT, pour grand tourisme, annonce g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une voiture m\u00e9langeant raffinement et sportivit\u00e9. Selon moi les ambitions sportives sont ici trop timides pour m\u00e9riter pleinement cette appellation. Un constat regrettable d’autant plus que le ch\u00e2ssis est bon, que le moteur ne manque pas de caract\u00e8re et que la bo\u00eete automatique \u00e0 8 rapports est bien \u00e9tag\u00e9e. Seulement voil\u00e0, tout aurait d\u00fb \u00eatre un peu plus sportif, du maintien des si\u00e8ges \u00e0 la sonorit\u00e9 en passant par une \u00e9lectronique plus permissive et des changements de rapports plus rapides.<\/p>\n

Au final, tous modes de conduite confondus, la consommation moyenne s\u2019est arr\u00eat\u00e9e \u00e0 8.2 l\/100km, ce qui reste tr\u00e8s correct au vu des conditions hivernales et de l\u2019absence du Start-Stop qui ne fonctionne pas quand la temp\u00e9rature ext\u00e9rieure est inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 2 degr\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Toutefois, en consid\u00e9rant le produit dans sa globalit\u00e9, il faut reconna\u00eetre que la Fran\u00e7aise ne manque pas d\u2019atouts pour s\u00e9duire une client\u00e8le exigeante ou simplement en qu\u00eate d\u2019un produit innovant et distingu\u00e9. Pour CHF 60’230.- (CHF 52’500.- sans options), notre mod\u00e8le d\u2019essai est richement \u00e9quip\u00e9, mais oublie en partie son sigle GT au bord de la route. Quant \u00e0 ceux qui pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent les breaks, ne vous inqui\u00e9tez pas, la Peugeot 508 SW arrive d\u00e9j\u00e0 sur nos routes\u00a0: rendez-vous au prochain Salon de Gen\u00e8ve pour la d\u00e9couvrir\u00a0!<\/strong><\/p>\n
