Nous \u00e9tions persuad\u00e9s que la Seat Leon Cupra R essay\u00e9e l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 dernier<\/a> serait le dernier mod\u00e8le Seat arborant le badge Cupra, la marque Cupra ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e en tant que telle en f\u00e9vrier dernier. Nous avons m\u00eame eu l\u2019occasion de prendre le volant de la Cupra Ateca en automne dernier pour un premier essai<\/a> en Espagne, et son essai complet suivra prochainement.<\/p>\n

Et bien non\u00a0! En attendant que de nouveaux mod\u00e8les Cupra soient pr\u00eats, Seat continue \u00e0 sortir diff\u00e9rentes versions Cupra de sa Leon, d\u00e9clinant maintenant m\u00eame sa version R aux accents cuivr\u00e9s en break ST\u00a0!<\/p>\n

Elle est \u00e9quip\u00e9e notamment des freins Brembo \u00e0 quatre piston habituellement en option mais surtout, d\u2019une augmentation de puissance de 70 ch r\u00e9sultant d\u2019une reprogrammation par ABT. Le 0-100 km\/h passe alors de 4.9 secondes \u00e0 4.5 secondes, lui permettant de se hisser entre la Volkswagen Golf R et l\u2019Audi RS3, rien que \u00e7a !<\/p>\n

\nL\u2019habitacle reste quant \u00e0 lui identique \u00e0 celui de la Leon Cupra ST<\/a>, si tant est qu\u2019il est par\u00e9 de s\u00e9rie des superbes si\u00e8ges semi-baquets Cupra en alcantara. On appr\u00e9ciera aussi le volant \u00e0 m\u00e9plat muni des deux molettes \u2013 comme chez Audi \u2013 ainsi que les panneaux de portes m\u00ealant alcantara et plastiques de bonne facture. Les passagers arri\u00e8re ne sont pas moins bien lotis avec un niveau de finition identique. L\u2019ambiance est plus cossue qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de la VW Golf R<\/a>, et le Digital Cockpit est plus complet que l\u2019Active Info Display de Volkswagen. Je ne me trouve donc d\u00e9finitivement pas dans un sous-produit du groupe allemand\u00a0!<\/p>\n

Toutefois, il faut avouer que la Golf R<\/a> garde la main au niveau de la sonorit\u00e9 ainsi que des modes de conduite en proposant un mode Eco. En outre, la Golf R autorise de d\u00e9sactiver le son du moteur retransmis par le haut-parleur dans l\u2019habitacle tout en conservant le param\u00e8tre du moteur le plus sportif, r\u00e9glage coupl\u00e9 \u00e0 l’ouverture des clapets de l’\u00e9chappement. Sur la Seat, il faudra r\u00e9gler le moteur sur Confort pour se passer du son artificiel, ce qui le rend moins nerveux. Le mode Eco quant \u00e0 lui est cach\u00e9, puisqu\u2019il faut \u00e9galement passer par le mode Individual et r\u00e9gler le moteur sur Eco afin d\u2019activer le coasting (roues libres en d\u00e9c\u00e9l\u00e9ration) sur la bo\u00eete DSG. J\u2019ai observ\u00e9 une r\u00e9duction allant de 0.2 \u00e0 0.5 l\/100km sur mes trajets test, tout en ayant la m\u00eame conduite apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9gl\u00e9 le moteur sur Eco.<\/p>\n

Sur la route, cet ensemble moteur\/bo\u00eete brille toujours autant par son agr\u00e9ment et sa souplesse dans tous les domaines d\u2019utilisation. Si, en comparaison avec certaines concurrentes, on peut lui reprocher un caract\u00e8re toujours un peu lisse \u2013 allant de pair avec une direction avare en retour d\u2019informations \u2013 il faut avouer qu\u2019outre des performances de premier ordre, les atouts de cette m\u00e9canique sont la polyvalence et la sobri\u00e9t\u00e9. En restant raisonnable, la consommation moyenne mesur\u00e9e fut de 9.4 l\/100km par faibles temp\u00e9ratures. Et en s\u2019appliquant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9co-conduite, tutoyer les 8 l\/100km sur un trajet m\u00ealant route et autoroute n\u2019est pas une utopie. Rien \u00e0 dire pour une traction int\u00e9grale de 370 ch !<\/p>\n

Dommage que l\u2019\u00e9chappement ne soit toujours pas actif. Son timbre naturel est r\u00e9ussi mais manque de volume, et le son artificiel dans l\u2019habitacle en mode Cupra s\u2019av\u00e8re vite lassant aux r\u00e9gimes interm\u00e9diaires. La bo\u00eete DSG \u00e0 6 rapports ne souffre d\u2019aucune critique et procure une excellente allonge lors des d\u00e9passements, m\u00eame si pour ma part je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re l\u2019\u00e9tagement resserr\u00e9 de la bo\u00eete \u00e0 7 rapports, qui r\u00e9duit aussi la consommation sur l\u2019autoroute.<\/p>\n

Quelques kilom\u00e8tres parcourus sur route enneig\u00e9e confirment que son comportement est naturellement identique \u00e0 celui de la VW Golf R que nous avons test\u00e9e sur la piste de glace de Rogneux<\/a>, \u00e0 savoir une tendance sous-vireuse en relance n\u00e9cessitant un travail pr\u00e9liminaire au volant afin d’obtenir une glisse des quatre roues.<\/p>\n
