Une fois par ann\u00e9e, Professional Driving propose un week-end de r\u00e9jouissances \u00e0 Balocco aux clients du groupe FCA. Les 102 participants sont arriv\u00e9s essentiellement de Suisse al\u00e9manique, mais je rep\u00e9rerai deux plaques vaudoises, quelques italiennes et allemandes\u2026 Et m\u00eame une portugaise\u00a0! Les forces en pr\u00e9sence sont multiples\u00a0: Alfa Romeo 4C, Giulietta, 159, Brera, et bien s\u00fbr les r\u00e9centes Giulia et Stelvio qui sont majoritairement des Quadrifoglio. Des Abarth et m\u00eame quelques Lancia et Ferrari compl\u00e8tent le plateau.<\/p>\n

Par rapport au Stelvio 2.0 Q4 essay\u00e9 cet hiver<\/a>, ses nombreux appendices, ses pneus arri\u00e8re de 285 mm et ses quadruples sorties d\u2019\u00e9chappement le rendent plus imposant. A peine ai-je le temps de r\u00e9gler ma position de conduite que d\u00e9j\u00e0 mon groupe doit se d\u00e9placer vers le premier exercice. Alors que les autres participants sont familiaris\u00e9s avec leur v\u00e9hicule, ce n\u2019est pas du tout mon cas. Mon premier d\u00e9fi sera donc de ne pas \u00eatre ridicule au volant de ce Stelvio qu\u2019il va bien falloir que j\u2019apprivoise. Heureusement, la plupart des exercices ne me sont pas inconnus ; je sais par exemple qu\u2019il faut garder les roues droites en freinant \u00e0 fond avant de commencer \u00e0 tourner pour \u00e9viter un obstacle. Mais la piq\u00fbre de rappel est de bon ton, surtout lorsqu\u2019il s\u2019agit de slalomer entre des c\u00f4nes sur un rev\u00eatement glissant avec 510 ch sous le pied droit !<\/p>\n

La journ\u00e9e file bon train et l\u2019ambiance est excellente entre les participants et les instructeurs, qui en plus de leurs conseils, nous emm\u00e8ne avec eux sur les diff\u00e9rents tron\u00e7ons du circuit que nous passons en revue. Globalement, je suis satisfait de mon \u00e9volution avec le Stelvio Quadrifoglio, mais j\u2019\u00e9prouve deux r\u00e9serves\u00a0: la premi\u00e8re, c\u2019est que contrairement \u00e0 la Giulia Quadrifoglio<\/a>, le Stelvio ne permet aucun \u00e9cart de motricit\u00e9 en mode Dynamic, coupant r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement les gaz au moindre patinage, \u00e0 tel point que je prendrai petit \u00e0 petit la libert\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9voluer en mode Race afin de n\u2019avoir aucune assistance. La deuxi\u00e8me r\u00e9serve concerne la direction qui, bien qu\u2019elle soit pr\u00e9cise et directe, manque de retour d\u2019information. Cela n\u00e9cessite une attention suppl\u00e9mentaire au moment de placer le train avant en entr\u00e9e de courbe, sous peine de quoi je serai oblig\u00e9 de corriger r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement l\u2019angle de braquage d\u2019une mani\u00e8re non acad\u00e9mique au possible. Je m\u2019y fais petit \u00e0 petit, laissant appara\u00eetre un sourire non dissimul\u00e9 non plus seulement \u00e0 chaque acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration (quelle sonorit\u00e9\u00a0!), mais \u00e9galement \u00e0 chaque entame de virage, le Stelvio s\u2019y adonnant \u00e9tonnamment bien compte tenu de son gabarit.<\/p>\n

Logiquement, le fait d\u2019\u00eatre en hauteur gomme quelque peu les sensations et l\u2019impression de vitesse, qu\u2019il faut surveiller attentivement car les 200 km\/h sont atteints avec aisance. \u00c9voluant pour la premi\u00e8re fois sur circuit avec un SUV, je reconnais l\u2019avantage que la client\u00e8le voue \u00e0 ces v\u00e9hicules sur la route : la visibilit\u00e9 accrue vers l\u2019avant me permet de mieux appr\u00e9hender le rayon du prochain virage sans avoir une connaissance id\u00e9ale de la piste.<\/p>\n

La centaine de kilom\u00e8tres parcourus de samedi soir \u00e0 dimanche matin me permet de prendre la mesure de l\u2019auto en conditions normales. En mode A (pour Advanced Efficiency), la bo\u00eete ZF8 est douce et privil\u00e9gie les changements de rapport \u00e0 bas r\u00e9gimes, tout en pratiquant le coasting en d\u00e9c\u00e9l\u00e9ration (d\u00e9brayage de la transmission), permettant de rouler au point mort lors des d\u00e9c\u00e9l\u00e9rations ainsi qu\u2019en l\u00e9g\u00e8re descente. Comme sur la Giulia Quadrifoglio<\/a>, il faudra passer en mode Race pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier \u00e0 la fois de la sonorit\u00e9 maximale ainsi que des suspensions r\u00e9gl\u00e9es au plus dur (3 niveaux, le mode Dynamic positionnant celles-ci sur le r\u00e9glage interm\u00e9diaire). Le bouton d\u00e9di\u00e9 aux suspensions permet de revenir en r\u00e9glage Soft depuis le mode Dynamic, et au r\u00e9glage interm\u00e9diaire depuis le mode Race. Mais dans tous les cas, l\u2019amortissement du Stelvio Quadrifoglio est sensiblement plus ferme que celui du Stelvio 2.0 Q4<\/a>, et les diff\u00e9rents degr\u00e9s de duret\u00e9 influencent davantage sur la prise de roulis que sur le confort.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s une courte nuit, un programme tout aussi charg\u00e9 que celui de la veille nous attend. D\u00e8s 7h50, l\u2019exp\u00e9rience reprend avec une incursion sur l\u2019anneau de vitesse, avant de continuer les exercices sur les diff\u00e9rents tron\u00e7ons du circuit. Je ne m\u2019en lasse pas, et peaufine ainsi ma prise en main du Stelvio Quadrifoglio que je commence \u00e0 trouver bluffant, les 4C et autres Giulia Quadrifoglio ne parvenant pas \u00e0 me mettre une valise m\u00eame dans les parties lentes. Si je devais retenir un point particulier, c\u2019est la stabilit\u00e9 dont fait preuve ce SUV lors des freinages \u00e0 fond et des changements de cap. Et en sortie de virage, la motricit\u00e9 excelle et il faut en mettre un paquet pour provoquer une d\u00e9robade du train arri\u00e8re, engendrant une glisse des quatre roues plut\u00f4t facile \u00e0 contr\u00f4ler.<\/p>\n

Puis vint le point d\u2019orgue de l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement : le parcours du circuit de Balocco dans son int\u00e9gralit\u00e9. La conduite se faisant sans casque, la piste a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9quip\u00e9e de quatre chicanes afin de limiter la vitesse en-dessous de 200 km\/h. La vid\u00e9o ci-apr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sente trois tours lors de la premi\u00e8re session. Le passage de certaines chicanes \u00e0 80 km\/h illustre particuli\u00e8rement bien la stabilit\u00e9 dont fait preuve ce v\u00e9hicule malgr\u00e9 ses 1\u2019830 kg sur la balance :<\/p>\n
